That only depends which GMs have those questions... Just the same the combine can help other positions a great deal more than it can the quarterback. Especially this year when it comes down to Clowney, Barr, and Mack (Watkins and Evans as well). A lot of quarterbacks don't even throw at the combine.
I have heard no such statements from any notable scout or analyst that I'm aware of. Most have Bridgewater and Bortles as the top 2 QB prospects at this stage.' Two months ago everyone thought he would stay at UCF. Ever since there's been hints that he might declare he's been considered a first round prospect.
Really hope somebody else falls on the Bortlesword. In fact if somebody falls in love with him and wants to trade up, it'd be great.
I'm at Magic Kingdom at Disney World and they had the Fiesta Bowl parade for UCF. Blake Bortles is a big dude. Not a small kid at all.
What are examples of "cannon arm but lack accuracy coming out of college" guys to become a star QB in the NFL anyway? I can't really think of any since I started caring about the NFL draft. Joe Flacco? Jay Cutler? Anyone better? Does Cam Newton or Micheal Vick count? If anything, I feel like the ceiling for these QBs with huge arms but rough around the edges to be pretty low historically.
The Bridgewater, JFF, and Bortles thread should all be merged into one. It's just back and forth over the same stuff.
i saw a highlight video of bortles and i swear in the pocket he looks just like schaub. obviously when he scrambles the comparisons end but in the pocket with his size and delivery looks exactly like schaub.
I wouldn't put Bortles (or Flacco, Cutler) in the "freak athlete" category. He's a "pretty good" athlete with great size.
That's true. I need to change that "cannon arm" category. Guys who get drafted high because "they can make all the throws... just not very well" guys that Bortles seems to fit.
Because someone posted a pic of bridgewater in a bortles thread .. I agree all the QB prospects should be merged into a single thread
sorry, i'm almost ready to let this go... According to NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah, "several teams" don't view Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater as a first-round talent. Jeremiah is a well-sourced former scout, so we doubt he's reaching. Although it's surprising to hear that "several" teams are questioning Bridgewater's first-round credentials, "several" could still mean only three or four clubs. Consensus is rare for any player, especially quarterbacks. Despite some outlier views, we still fully expect Bridgewater to be a first-round pick. Source: Daniel Jeremiah on Twitter Jan 15 - 6:06 PM
Which teams- Browns, Jaguars, Vikings , Raiders(teams that have tried forever to get a franshice QB and have failed. They should just mention what teams instead of hiding around the bushes
Heres the deal, it comes down to the best qb that o'b feels he can develop into a top notch nfl talent. Do you think Brady would have became the qb he is if he had gone anywhere other than NE? I dont!
