With all do respect to the Talented Duo(Cat/Wink) has more moves than any back court duo that I've seen in the league, But that does'nt resolved a lot of things when in comes to crunch time. I really think we should find another home for the Cat and bring on a true PG. as for the Wink, he should be a 2 guards.

If Francis can't gaurd average points, what would make him better at guarding 2s (Kobe, Pierce, Tmac, Allen ect.).
How many true points are out there. The only points that would make it worthwhile would be too hard to get. Why get an avg. point to go with an allstar 2 when you have an above avg. 2 and an allstar point. We just need more from our fowards and we would be one of the toughest teams in the west.

    YO SMART ONE! :)

Mobley's role would be to bring the ball up the court and just be like Eric Snow......except could be an even better Eric Snow or like Alvin Williams or Darrell Armstrong. This would be on offense. He could just bring it and dump it down to Yao....who will be the main focus of our offense. He can also drive sometimes....NO MORE ISO. Only once in a while for fun when we play the Cavs or something. POINT GUARD IS JUST A NAME. Doesn't mean crap.
On defense......even though by name we call Cuttino the POINT GUARD......he could guard the tougher assignment of the night.

    Jebus!
    That simple.

But Rudy T. is the coach. And he does not make many changes that often.......or doesn't like to try new things. He likes stable consistency.

For all of you who haven't picked up on it yet,
MOBLEY ALREADY DOES THIS Do you guys actually watch games? Mobley brings the ball up and initiates the offense all the time. 90% of the time you gets it in the post, it was Mobley or Posey that got it to him. There is no debate about whether Cat can play the point, because he does play the point. I think the offense actually ran better when Cat was running it, because Francis pretty much NEVER begins a possesion with a quick pass.

Most of the time the point guard is to dribble the ball the most and control the offense; bringing the ball across halfcourt usually is the best dribblers job which on most teams is the point.
But on some teams that have star guards, that star has the ball the most if they are penetrating guards(old Bulls/ Jordan, Lakers/ Kobe, Orlando/ Tmac).
Mobley and Francis have always both brought the ball up and controled the offence. IMO Cats best role is to be a roleplaying 2 guard who can score well as the 3rd or 4th option. He continues to get better on D and is a bargin for what he brings at his price tag.

Francis also proved during the allstar game he was one of the best points there with a great ALL AROUND GAME; not just passing.

This team is at its best with ball movement which means its assists don't come on the first pass.

So......basically.......no changes! We just need a new offense!

Don't look for the Francis - Mobley duo to break up anytime soon. Look for some coaching punch and direction for the new improved Rudy T (and company). Dump Rice or Moochie if you want to make a move to bring in a 3rd scorer. There's still hope on the horizon by tweaking our current roster just a tad. I don't see a lot of possible moves up that would improve, just over. At that point the whole team chemistry thing has to start from scratch (again). We've got the players and the coach. Just work it.

Talk about rearrainging the deck chairs on the Titanic!

All you'd end up doing is swapping the positions on where you'd get boneheaded play. Instead of Cuttino jacking up bricks, committing dumb fouls and turnovers as SG, he'll be doing it as PG. Francis will still be driving into the teeth of the opposing zone, jump up and turnover the ball, only he'll be doing it as the SG and not PG.

Which would mean no matter who the PG is, Francis would be doing just what you said. So why does it matter? Bringing in another guard is not going to change Francis' behavior.

    Shoot first?

Or his explicit bad immature behavior..?

    We need Brent Barry!

By the way, I don't think the issue is bringing in a "pure" poing guard. It's that we need a competent poing guard with weathered poing guard skills (a pass first, shoot second guard).

Francis lacks good point guard skills. But he has extraordinary shooting guard skills. So, what's happening is that his natural skill is being compromised.

It's obvious by now. That Francis will never be like Isiah, who was as good at pasing as he was scoring.

Seems to me that Francis is going to be a mishmash of a Kevin Johnson and Allen Iverson (but not as good a passer as KJ).

One thing that can't happen is that Francis have less assist than Scotty Pippen. That would be shamefull.

Eveyone needs to readup on Francis'es yearly turnovers.

He's reach the golden 300 mark per year.
    Well, 299.

    306 (rookie)
    265 (sophomore)
    221 (3rd year, only played 56 games)
    299 (this year)
