I didn't see it mentioned elsewhere, but please lock if I just missed it.

In attempt to make a mockery and farce of the process (their words), Deadspin has successfully purchased a HOF vote from a BWAA member and will allow Deadspin readers to vote on how they use it. Once the votes have been cast, Deadspin will have the original voter fill out the ballot on their behalf, and then the site will reveal who the original voter was.

They are also still looking to buy more votes if they can find suitors.

It will be interesting to see if the powers that be in baseball stay quiet about this hoping that it goes away or if they put up a stink.

I'm hopeful that this will at least force someone to take another look at the process, although to be fair, my issue isn't so much with the process as it is egotistical baseball writers that make it out to be more than it is. The Hall of Fame is a freaking museum. There is far too much pearl clutching when it comes to voting for the Hall of Fame and I don't just mean the PED issue.

Just to close the lid on this story. Deadspin revealed the crowdsourced ballot and who the voter was. Turns out it was Dan LeBatard of ESPN and the Miami Herald.

I have to admit that I've never been a huge fan of LeBatard, but I have a new found respect for him, not just because he helped Deadspin make a mockery of the process, but because he so eloquently described why he did it.

The story on Deadspin can be read here.

I listen to his show on the radio on the way home from work sometimes since there's no good sports talk here in Oklahoma. He had mentioned a while back that he was considering doing this with Deadspin. Looks like he went through with it, props to him.
