The rockets should find some way to trade hakeem to the Utah Jazz. It would be ironic that he could end his career with two other players that have spent their whole career with the same team just as he was supposed to. and Utah is a class organization just like hakeem is a class guy. plus their fans havent really appreciated hakeem, so it would be interesting to see if they still complained about him 'traveling' while watching his moves. i think Utah would be a nice final resting place for hakeem. who do you think we should get from the Jazz for him? ------------------ "Man, it's cool. You must REALLY hate Hakeem for ever considering to send him to UTAH!!! ------------------ Will the REAL Steve Francis, please step up! I repeat....
i think Utah would be a nice final resting place for hakeem Hakeem is old... but he ain't that old! We're talking about trading him, not burying the man. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve immortality by not dying. - Woody Allen
If we can get Byron Russell that may be good and trade. But, I Hakeem should just stay here!!! ------------------ "Instinctly u recognize things, now take advantage of what u just recognized!".. Hakeem..
Dream makes more than Malone and Stockton and they dominate Utah's payroll. Any TWO of the next 3 on the payroll barely make what Stockton makes. In other words, getting Hakeem would mean the Jazz would have to give up 5 or even 6 players to match Dreams' contract. No way in h*** will they do it. And I for one celebrate that fact. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited December 07, 2000).]
They should change the title of this thread to "the silliest idea since time began" Hakeem to Utah...NO WAY!!!!!! ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
What the fu%k is wrong with some of you people? Trade Hakeem to Utah ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! To point out individuals or teams that have managed to reach the pinnacle of SUCKINESS!!!!! ----- Who Else? The Washington SUCKskins!!!!!!!!! $100 Million down the drain!!!!!!!

I don't think it is such a bad idea, except for the problem of the salary cap. I tried it on Realgm.com and discovered that Jazz players aren't as poorly paid as you'd think. But, assuming Malone and Stockton are untouchable, it'd take Ostertag, Marshall, and Bryan Russell to approximate Dream's salary. It doesn't look to me like a trade would be good for either party, though Olajuwon, Stockton and Malone all playing together (along with Starks) has a certain romance to it. ------------------ RealGM Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
I still don't think we really need cap space this offseason. I'm betting that Anderson is willing to wait another season to get his Bird Rights and cash in, and I don't want to see the Rockets re-sign Mo for any amount. I think we have essentially no shot at Webber or Finley and I can't think of any other FAs worth pursuing. So if we fill up the cap again, it won't bother me. However, I think Russell is the only one of the 3 that could conceivably be on our future championship team and in the meantime, the other guys may tie up our cap in off-seasons beyond this next one. For that reason, picking up those 3 guys is not worth it, imo. Besides, how is Utah going to compete for the championship by adding Dream but losing those 3 guys? Russell is a starter and the other 2 are rotation guys. ------------------ RealGM Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
Also, to extend on JuanValdez's point, Osterfat, Russell and Marshall would tie up way too many cap dollars that the Rockets need this offseason. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
