With Stockton retiring, do you think that the Rocks would consider hiring him as an assistant (if he'd even consider) to work with Francis? As much as I've hated watching him and Malone in the past, I'd love for him to teach Francis and Ming the art of the pick and roll. Who knows, maybe bringing him in would even net us Malone in the FA market?

I must apologize codell, I've been away for quite some time. I wasn't aware that this had been mentioned before.

Just thinking though about the possibility of meshing Steve's raw talent with Stockton's craftiness just has me thinking championship.

If you could get Malone in the mix, I think you're either in 4th or 5th place next year.

For people like you the only good coaches are white coaches.

    ?????

Where in the world do you come off bring a race card into the mix. My thought was purely based on the play of Stockton. If he were black, that would be fine. If you noticed, I wanted to keep Steve Francis (a black man) as the leader (PG) of this team. Stockton has 20 years experience in this league. He never had the athleticism that Stevie has, yet he was able to have a remarkable NBA career. Now if you know of another ex-NBA player that might be a good teacher to Steve, please offer. And know this "kountzer", I won't be offended one way or the other if he's black, white, Chinese, Hispanic or any other nationality or color. This was not meant to be a race issue and I'm offended that you even mentioned it!

We dont need Malone, he needs to do his own thing on a contender! We do need a strong minded Coach for the Guards on Offence and Defence. John Stockton would be great in that position. He would bring knowledge and guts to the little people!

what crossed my mind, which would be the loudest-fans full of boos for next year, is when the Lakers play us at home, and they could somehow get Malone, Pippen and get Stockton to come back. Think about that:

    Stockton/Kobe/Pippen/Malone/Shaq

Oh geeze.... so much hatred there...

wow, i didnt know johnny cochran posted here! "if the tight-ass shorts dont fit, you must aquit."

that is the weakest attempt at playing the "race card" that ive seen in a long, long time.

like i said in the other thread, stockton is arguably the greatest point guard of all-time. IF he ever wanted to coach he would have 30 teams beating on his door. the choice would be his and why in the world would he want to come to houston?

    Great idea!

Steve need to learn to be a good decision maker like Stockton. Stockton has a lot to offer if he's ever going to be available for the Rox.

Stockton can teach Franchise no matter if he's white or black or other race.

IMHO he wouldn't want to move or do the travel required.

Damn, you guys, I'm sure Stockton would rather spend time with his family and be at home for a while, than join the Rockets as an assistant. I mean, sh*t, he only played for 19 years, you'd think he mignt want a break.

I dont think that we should get Stockton as an assistant coach.
Somebody like Oscar Robertson would be MUCH better.
Francis will NEVER play like Stockton no matter what, so theres no point in bringing him in.

Stockton a teacher? Humm...he is not the type. Stockton always lead by example not by speech...

Also...I'm sure you heard this before:

"You Can Lead a Horse to Water, but You Can't Make Him Drink"

Even if Stockton would be willing to coach...what is the chance that our current point guards would be able to 1) listen 2) execute his directions. Remember these are the guys who couldn't lob a ball into a guy who is 7 ft 5. Now you will ask them to become efficient point guards. Please....

Stockton will be a great addition to the coaching staff, without a doubt. :)
