Melo off the bench? Are we talking about THE Melo? Melo off the bench? This is supposed to be a random thread, but still ... just crazy
OK posted this in a different thread but didn't want to hijack it too bad so I'll post it here. Asik to Brooklyn for KG Lopez is out for the year now so they need a center (they're only one game out of the playoffs....sad but true). KG waives his no trade to get reunited with McHale and play on a better team. He's already stated how out of rhythm he is in Brooklyn. I think KG would give us the veteran leadership and toughness we're lacking. I think he'd yell at guys if they don't play defense. Plus he could man the backup C minutes. His contract expires in two years, meaning we could still make a run at Love/Aldridge. Keep in mind KG's PER was 19.2 last season in Boston.
how about this? picks could be included in the package http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mpm2g9k
trade idea. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lsua7pr since the bulls seem to be having a fire sale. how about this trade here.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k4qljfb Cavaliers get a big man (which they need, especially because it looks like they're trying to make the playoffs). Bobcats get to take a flier on a young shooting guard, and can play Alonzo Gee at the backup three. Plus, they save some money. They really don't give up much, but don't get much either. We get a backup center in Haywood and a backup shooting guard in Henderson. We kind of get screwed here, but there's very few trading options for Asik, especially in the East.
Harden for Melo How awesome would that be!!! It'd be like trading up, going from Melo-lite to Melo the original.
Believe it or not, the Celtics pay attention to this thing called the Luxury Tax... and so does the ESPN trade machine which pretty clearly states "THIS TRADE FAILED".
A Couple of random trades: 1. Houston out: Asik/ Brewer Houston in: Young/ Dunleavy Chicago out: Dunleavy Chicago in: Brewer Philly out: Young Philly in: Asik The "whys"? Chicago saves another $3.2million, and if they amnesty Boozer, puts them in a position to offer a max deal over the summer. Philly gets a big man for the middle, saves $500k next year, and relieves themselves of that third year of Young's deal. Houston gets a backup PF and GF 2. Houston out: Motie/ Smith Houston in: Kaman LA out: Kaman LA in: Motie/ Smith The "whys": LA saves a bit over $800k base salary (which adds up on the tax front). And gives them a look at a 'talent' in Motie (who might fit well in a D'Antoni style). Houston brings in a veteran backup C who can play a little bit. 3. Sign Camby Projected new roster: PG Beverly/ Lin/ Brooks/ Canaan SG Harden/ Garcia/ SF Parsons/ Dunleavy PF Jones/ Young/ Casspi/ Covington C Howard/ Kaman/ Camby
I'd rather have the one who passes, gets assists, and isn't a discontented team hopper. Might just be me though.
haoafu's idea from the cyberx Dunleavy thread: It would have to be Aminu + Stiemsma, however, for salary matching purposes.
I would like to use three players.... Garcia, Asik and Brewer....and possibly get us Young and Dunleavy.....Y
here's a trade that might make sense: Rockets receive: Kirk Hinrich Nazr Mohammed Mike Dunleavy Bulls receive: Omer Asik Aaron Brooks Donatas Motiejunas Bulls get back a few cheap contracts, a capable point guard (better than DJ Augustin), a potential stretch 4 that maybe Thibs can teach to play defense, and Asik will have value both as a player and another trade chip. Houston gets 2 shooters, a capable starting point guard that would allow us to have Lin come off the bench as a scorer facilitator, and a backup center to take up space in the paint and foul people.
Yeah he can shoot three's right. BKN won't trade him though he has been their only bright spot so far.
