Yao may get less post up opportunities, but he will get a lot more PnR opportunities with Lin and harden. Yao's skill set complements the current backcourt a lot more than Howard. Yao's ability to hit the mid-range consistently opens up an entirely new dimension offensively for the Rockets in my opinion.
Sabermetrics (and rate statistics) has been an awesome movement for baseball but I just don't think it carries over as well in basketball.
If Cousins is going to be the best center in the NBA, he better learn how to defend better. Center is the only spot on the floor where you MUST be able to defend to be elite.
If utilized correctly, it can be ground-breaking. If cherry-picked and isolated, obviously it will raise some eyebrows. That is not to be blamed on the metrics, but the writer. Clearly, you have not seen Hakeem play. And he unfortunately falls hilariously short of elite defence and rim protection. Got a lot of talent though.
He gets pushed around too easily and can't contain the paint at all. The only way Cousins will be successful is by playing alongside someone like Asik.
Anthony Davis deserves the top shot. I've been watching him play And aside from Drummond he is a deadly defensive and shot blocking center.
Honestly doesn't feel like Dwight is playing the fewest minutes per game since his rookie season. I feel like he's out there almost 40 minutes a game. He's had a few games where they didn't need him for the 4th quarter, or he was in foul trouble early in a game. It doesn't seem like that should be a knock on him.
WARP is a very poor metric. xRAPM and ASPM tell a much fuller and more complete story of a players worth. Unfortunately both are proprietary and therefore have no public definition. But historically they are the best measures of a players worth.
He was already unstoppable on offense, when he was in the league. And that was when Ben Wallace and Dwight were racking up DPOY awards.
Day dreaming. NBA has changed. It's quite a while that teams without true centers won championships while those with didn't. The game of true centers is gone. Dream is a different story. He will thrive in today's game. He is the best all time.
