Houston is number 5! We really moved down... This year's 20 most polluted metropolitan areas are: 1. Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange County, Calif. 2. Fresno, Calif. 3. Bakersfield, Calif. 4. Least polluted cities Bellingham, Wash. Brownsville-Harlingen-San Benito, Texas Colorado Springs, Colo. Duluth-Superior, Minn.-Wis. Elkhart-Goshen, Ind. Eugene-Springfield, Ore. Fargo-Moorhead, N.D.-Minn. Flagstaff, Ariz.-Utah Greeley, Colo. Honolulu, Hawaii Laredo, Texas Lincoln, Neb. Medford-Ashland, Ore. Portland-Salem, Ore.-Wash. Salinas, Calif. San Francisco San Luis Obispo-Atascadero-Paso Robles, Calif. Santa Cruz-Watsonville, Calif. Sioux Falls, S.D. Spokane, Wash. Good to see Lincoln, NE on the list- the best football atmosphere bar none. I'm a bit puzzled by Laredo though. Isn't it across the Rio Grande from a bunch of Mexican factories?
I am just happy to see that we no longer are ahead of LA for most smoggy city. No matter how much I love to see Houston ranked ahead of LA, this is one statistic category I would not like to see us as #1.
Good thing Reliant energy has their worst pollution causing plants in the middle of nowhere in Texas. They've got one plant alone that dumps 389,000 tons of pollutants into our Texas air every year thanks to our dear leader George Bush signing into law a grandfather bill that allows plants like that to bypass the clean air act. But as long as it's only pumping up the birth defect and cancer rates in rural texas it's no big deal right? This is progress.
speaking of which, i gotta get mine done this week. are they $40.00 everywhere in Houston or do some shops charge less? tia.
Fourth? That is BULLSH!T! We can do better than that people! Come on! Start buying SUV's! Burn some tires! Walk outsinde and empty all of your aerosol cans!
