    Overperforming-

-Dwight - 20 mil - (superstar salary) - Underpaid. All superstars are underpaid IMO by theory of what they truly mean to your team. However from a cap space argument he's performed adequate to very good.

-Harden- 13 mil - underpaid & overperformed- In comparison to other great scorers in league (Melo at 21 & Kobe at 30 ) he's excellent value and overperforming his contract currently.

-Parsons- .9 mil- Do we seriously need to even discuss this.... overperforming by a million miles.

-Terrence Jones- 1.5 mil for a starting caliber PF nearly averaging a double-double the past 2 months is ridiculously good value. League average would probably be closer to 10 mil.

-Casspi- .9 mil- overperforming- For a backup stretch 4 on any level market cost would normally be mid-level salary. He's great value at a low cost even though the team will probably upgrade in the future regardless.

-P. Bev- .78 mil- steal at that salary- Probably a mid-level player if hit free agency today.

-Greg Smith- .88- overperforming- Solid backup big normally when healthy. On that contract its a steal.

    Adequately performing-

-Jeremy Lin- 8.4 mil- He's played well, but you'd prefer him to be on a more team friendly contract that could be used to upgrade the position long term if needed. Still as a 6MOY candidate when coming off the bench... its adequate if he ends up having a big impact late in the season/playoffs.

-D-Mo- 1.4- Rookie contract for a project big. Adequately paid (Same could be said for Covington & Canaan)

-Garcia- 1.2- vet min. specialist. Adequate

    Underperforming-

-Omer Asik - 8.4 million (your figures are based on actual pay ... only cap matters)... Bargain as a starter.... adequate for 6 man of the year type performance... currently under-performing, but with a few decent performances after getting healthy he could easily be adequate to overperforming depending on what happens the rest of the year.

-Brewer - 1.1 mil - Can't make himself useful so far this season. Underperforming.

-Royce White- LOL... ohh Royce.... Hows that comeback coming along? He'll be lucky to get a 30 for 30 special in 10 years.

Howard - overpaid and a mistake. With him, Rockets are having worse offense, worse defense, way more injuries and everyone (including McHale and Morey) has lost the desire for the game.

Max contracts are not always underpaid when you have a salary cap. There is a huge opportunity cost involved. You figure you can only have maybe 3 of those realistically. If you get the wrong guys - you could still be paying them below "market value" (ie. what they could get in a market with no max salaries) - but they could still be bad deals for your team.

For example, if some team has Melo, Deron Williams, and Harden - they could all be technically underpaying them because of the maximum salary limitations. I would still consider it a bad investment.

for THIS year. Lin at 5M is one of the cheapest "starting" PG in the league. at 8M, he's still on the lower end if you discount rookies in rookie contracts since no one has any way to get around that. so look at other league salaries first. and if you have the "what truly means to team" think of all the Lin related merchandise and apparel sold across the globe.
