I mentioned this trade in another thread, but I thought I'd make a thread about it to hear you guys thoughts. Houston trades: Cuttino Mobley Terence Morris Moochie Norris 1st round draft pick Los Angeles Lakers trades: Robert Horry Devean George Jennari Pargo Houston lineup: Francis/Pargo/Maddox Posey/Nachbar George/Horry Griffin/MoTay Yao/Cato LA lineup: Fisher/Rush/Moochie Mobley/draft pick, or whoever Kobe/Morris Madsen/Walker/Medvedenko Shaq/Walker Why Houston: Although they probably lose some talent, they get passers, defensive players and veterans. Horry can hit the clutch shot and George brings a lot of energy and defense. Why LA: They get a third option scorer. They will not, IMO, get Pippen or Malone, so they will look for another scorer. They also get Morris who is a close equivalent to George except without the athletic ability. They trade Pargo (scrub who doesnt get much playing time) for Moochie (who was a good player last year, just didnt play well this year). Although they lose George, they get a better scorer for him. Horry would probably have demanded trade anyways since he wants to get closer to his daughter (illness, not sure of details, but resides in Houston). The Rockets would be champion contenders with these players, NEXT YEAR.
Nope, but how about Mobley+Griffin for Brand? Then Cato for Danny Fortson. PG-????\Norris SG-Francis SF-Posey(?) Nachbar PF-Brand, Fortson C-Yao,Fortson
Sorry fatman.....but I like RocketFan85's trade better. Even though it is impossible..... Mobley and Griffin only make like $7.2 million combined a season. Elton Brand will be making at least $10 million per season...... Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin, Terence Morris, Kelvin Cato, and a 1st Round Draft Pick FOR Elton Brand, Quentin Richardson, and maybe Chris Wilcox?
although i dont like the trade that much, i think its great to hear a trade that doesnt involve brand, garnett, kobe or anyone else who has a jersey you can buy at foot locker. we need roleplayers, not an olympic squad
Horry's sentimental value does not outweigh his overall lack of heart and lack of talent.. "He can hit the clutch shot" isn't something you trade exclusively for. Trade Rejected
You guys obviously dont understand the term 'addition by subtraction' This season, our problem was the fact that we had players who did not want to pass the ball. Cuttino was not passing to Yao, and taking horrible shots. We do not want this on our team. Moochie was dribbling for 20 seconds and then passing it to someone else for a last second shot. We cant have this on a team. Although we may lose some talent, we get good veteran role players. These guys pass first, score later and provide leadership.
How about just signing free agent Horry outright this summer to backup MoT (after we trade Griffin and Mobley for a good point guard), and cutting Moochie?
You have to remember that George and Horry benifits from play with Shaq and Kobe. LA just renewed George's contract and Horry is still their 3 point threat. Neither player is really all that good. Also, LA would not be intrested in the Rocket players expecially Moochie Norris. This trade would never go down. George
I like my trade better. Houston trades: Cuttino Mobley Eddie Griffin 1st round pick Memphis trades: Jason Williams Stromile Swift Wesley Person 1-Jason Williams-9 assists per game, leads the league in assists/turnover ratio. 2-Steve Francis 3-James Posey (yes, resign him) 4-Stromile Swift 5-Yao
