No i just started this thread because I wanted to confirm whether or not bill said that. I also thought people would want to discuss this. Apparently I was right . My own personal opinion is that it isn't racist or offensive but it is slightly unprofessional.
Dang it. I LOVE Mexican food--my favorite cuisine. I didn't realizing I was offending people and food, though, when I was calling food Mexican.
Guys I'm mad, why do Anglo Americans and African Americans, get a color? And the Hispanic and Asians don't get labeled as a color? Are we not colorful enough for you bigots?!?
It's pretty obvious why he said that. Over the past few games especially, Clyde has been a bit unprofessional by over-professing his love and admiration for Harden, Jones and Beverley. He never says a bad word about these guys, always praise, even when they made mistakes. DMo, Lin, and any and all euro guy on the other team, on the other hand, Clyde tends either to laugh at, speak condescendingly about, or set ultimatums for (not so much Lin anymore, only at first). Bill was probably getting frustrated and just said that to try to keep Clyde in line. Bill himself is usually pretty fair; although sometimes he does let his colors show through. For example you could tell Bill didn't like Thomas Robinson...set ultimatums for him all over the place, spoke condescendingly about him. We all have favorites, but those guys are paid to just share the action, not promote certain players according to their personal likes and dislikes. I think the most fair of all three is actually Bull.
/\ And what probably further frustrated matters for Bill, was when McHale had Brooks play the entire fourth quarter in place of Lin, whom Bill happens to like.
Its unprofessional for a broadcaster to refer to anybody's color as a joke on television. Common sense 101
