No doubt Kobe is great. But what you did miss is that Kobe would not be the same winner if he stayed on the Hornets, or traded to a bad team. A lot was handed to him. I would like to draw an example here. Ray Jesus Allen. Ray Allen whom I consider great went begging for a championship as a geriatric marksman going to the Celtics and now Heat. He could not do it with either the Bucks or the Sonics. Obviously Tracy wasn't the competitor Ray and Kobe were at the end. I am no doctor to say what role INJURIES played in his career. But injuries did derail Derrick Rose' career so there is that. Tracy's career is incomplete due to a couple of reasons but this is none of your business or mine as matter of fact.
TMac was a quitter. Anyone who watched each of the games in 2009 will not apologize for him. You may be able to hold some nostalgia for the good years which ultimately were themselves utter disappointments, but so was the entire Yao era once you think of it. TMac will never outlive his reputation though for what he did to our team in 2009. We could have won it all that year. We took the champs to 7 games. But we also had an inside man that year, a saboteur...
Was it a fact that he was injured or not? I did not apologize for him for what he did. He played knowing that he was injured. He did not talk to the organization about a surgery. That was his fault yes. He prevented being traded earlier. Did he demand or force a trade out of Houston like other superstars before him? I am not sure he did.
No doubt but it's also a definition of Rockets fan of the 21st century. What if we had a contender.....
Dwight Howard =been to NBA Finals Harden = been to NBA Finals this experience will pay off for the Rockets.
I can not believe the whole Tinman vs. Tmac fans is still going on. It's been years since he wore the Rockets unis, and he isn't in the NBA anymore. Why on earth can't both sides just let it go already!
This is the footage that forever tips me into the Tinman camp on this stupid issue. McGrady played like a spoiled kid in YMCA youth basketball. Just awful <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/TjbkXewxlGI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's interesting.... going back and watching this, it wasn't as bad as I remembered it being in the heat of the moment. I think I'd be safe in saying that this play has happened many times in the NBA. Not condoning it. I believe in sports you should always play until the whistle. But I don't think this is some earth-shattering play. I guess it's just symbolic for some people.
I hear you if you're talking about the one play -- the first on the video -- the breakaway. But watch the entire painful video. He was barely joining the offense. Listen to the announcers, who are spot on. It's not a normal thing. But whatever. Long under the bridge, for me at least. Just trying to add context.
The point is your best player and highest paid player is quitting . That can't happen. Remember what he said ? It's on me
Yeah Tracy McGrady is the first HOF type player to quit in a game. Never seen it happen - ever. Never ever. Right?
