I didn't like him complaining (I still think it was a mistake), but I feel for him. This just isn't his team anymore and the sooner he realizes this, the better off we'll all be. He is not the great player any of us remember, but that really isn't the issue. The fact is that this team used to be built around Hakeem and his post up's on offense. It was made up of him, a rebounder (Thorpe/Barkley) and a bunch of shooters. Now, we have a bunch of young runners who slash to the hoop and need more motion in their offense to be successful. That just doesn't suit Olajuwon and how he plays. If you give the ball to him in the post repeatedly, the rest of the team will suffer. If he cannot adjust his game, he will probably spend the rest of the season pissed because nothing is going to change and it shouldn't at this point. ------------------ Mmmmmmm. Sacrelicious.
There is SO much truth to this post. Dream is struggling to find his niche, and as a proud man, he is probably NEVER going to find it with this team, and the way they play ball. Either you post Hakeem up more often, or not at all, and tell him that to get his points he needs to hit the offensive glass. I think a nice mixture would be nice, but so would Hakeem crashing on the backside when Francis of Mobley penetrate from the Strong side. Dreamer, Kareem found his niche, because Magic took over as the leader. Francis needs to do the same, but I think he may be too nice to do that at this time.
