Personally I think it's not necessary to make a fuss about Jeremy being benched. As a non-drafter who hardly got playing time in his first 1 and a half years in NBA, he has learnt to fight through the mistrust and to improve and gain his time. For people who are psychologically tough enough, adversity is a good discipline.
I like what I saw in this game. Harden performing and giving assists. Bench played more minutes than last few games. Harden shutting down JR Smith was huge. And Dwight getting into Tyson Chandler's head, that was priceless!
I agree with this philosophy when the other player is having a great game and making plays. In this case, Brooks was not having a good game at all. He had a couple of plays and that was it. On the contrary, he was being abused on the defensive side and NY was taking advantage of that and creating mismatches every play in the 4th quarter. We were really lucky we won this game. The fault was going to be on McHale!
Agreed. Jeremy is just a bench player anyway, so whats wrong with him sitting on the bench? He already played 28 minutes, which is alot by the rockets bench standard. Lets just celebrate a badly needed win and move on to the next game. Hope to see more Harden and Dwight in the next game against the Lakers and make those faker fans cry after we blow them out!
Yeah so God forbid, these two guys wont get injured, their playing time is really mind boggling...I wish Mchale would also think of their health...
If that is true, how come he never benches Harden when he shoots horrible or has bad defensive plays? I could argue the same here. He just doesn't trust Jeremy
I hate to side with the Lin fans but he seriously deserved to play last night... He was scoring the ball well in the first half and aaron brooks did absolutely nothing to justify playing the whole 4th quarter... he ended the game with something like, 3 points (1/6 shooting) 1 assist 4 Fouls? It makes absolutely no sense to me why he didnt play the last 6 minutes at least.
Brooks put us in foul trouble early with 2 fouls, had 2 turnovers in the 4th,Mchale would've yanked Lin faster than ever saw if that had happened. I'm ok with players being bench but Mchale has to be fair while doing, and last night wasn't fair based on what Mchale benches Lin for
If only Mchale treat every player alike , other coach pop from the Spurs he treat every player equally. ,
Morey makes sure he goes out and gets solid PGs 4 of them, goes to Russia to her bev, gets brooks back on vet min, drafts another PG Canaan but with the 2-3 all we have is Garcia & casspi you won't see harden or parsons playing less because they don't have solid backups
Mchale has the guts to bench Lin for the whole 4th quarter but has no guts to bench Harden for his crew up. lol
I guess we will never know how Lin would of perform in the 4th quarter of the knicks game. would we..
I don't root against James... I don't blindly cheer for him either. Dude fakes being hurt and flops. It's not blasphemy to point out facts. Yeah, somebody does something to him every game (usually after he messes up). Yeah.
Yes, I think you're absolutely right in that McHale has varying levels of trust in each of his players. The same holds true for every other coach in the NBA. Head coaches are charged with doing the best they can with the resources at their disposal. If in the closing minutes of a game, a coach feels that one group of guys will give the team their best chance of winning, then that's his call to make. McHale is a man who has had tremendous success as a player, and is a champion 3 times over. As a coach, I imagine that he wants nothing more than to lead his teams to the finals as often as possible. If that's true, then I also imagine that in each game situation, he puts the players that he trusts to get the job done in a position to do so. That's it. There's no conspiracy, no deliberate unfair treatment of players.
