I'm not really one to start my own threads, generally I read a lot more than I post, but I can't help but notice an overwhelming sense of frustration throughout the GARM right now.

I am as frustrated as anybody with some of the losses to poor opposition, but we are currently 22-13 and haven't once had our full complement of players while also integrating an all-star into our team and dealing with the disharmony and trade rumours surrounding Asik.

Being so young as a group, I think we are right about where we need to be, we won't win a championship next year, and morey has a little more work to do (maybe hiring a new coach), but we are just fine, I can't stand struggles against poor teams, but by the end of the regular season and fully healthy, we're going to be just fine.

Negative people needn't respond and turn this into a Lin debate

It's human nature to knee-jerk. And provided that CF is the biggest(?) Rockets fan forum, this is the best place to do it in.

Just like there have been knee-jerk threads, there have been "calm heads" threads like this one as well, however.

Stay calm my friends. McHale is still young as a coach. Give him room to grow.

What we're experiencing right now is a natural reaction to the painful realization that we vastly overestimated how good this team would be in the preseason. It happens at least a couple times every year during the regular season. Just need to ride it out and the board will settle down after a few wins.

You sure picked a bad time to start a thread titled "Calm Heads", seeing especially, how a certain one of your players (not naming any names, b/c I know the situation is delicate) just got benched the entire fourth quarter for no apparent reason at all.

I'm sorry Mchale has got to go or get moved to the F/O, win or lose we looked terrible and Dwight looked fed up. We haven't actually looked like a team since the Spurs game. Too much iso ball, can't guard screens, bad timeouts, no timeouts when needed, bad rotations across the board. He should not be in charge of a team with this much talent.

I don't think McHale has it in him. Self criticism and taking responsibility are the first steps to change, in my opinion, and he seems to lack in that department.

As for your last sentence, I hope people would stop making this about his treatment of a single player.

We blew out Knicks twice last year this year both games down the final shot.

You ever think maybe it's not mchale maybe it's the new players

Didn't watch the game, scroll through the game thread for a few mins. Saw someone said Dwight didn't look happy at the end. Any reason why? Another bad matchup with Bargnani?

Nope, it's on the coaching staff because you have major pieces in Harden and Dwight. You don't integrate them in the system, you build around them.

I'm right there with you man. You could tell in the first few minutes of the game thread, down by 1 point with 40 minutes to go and it seemed the majority had already chalked this one up in the L column. Honestly think it would take a pretty nice win streak at this point to change some peoples minds about this team.

I just don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. Like you said a fully healthy roster hasn't been something we have had so far and we still have Asik or whatever we get in a trade to help. Season is far from over.

Another sensitivity thread. As if, fans don't know what the current situation with the team is, and if they did, they wouldn't react the way they are.

Everyone has they're own standards and expectations for this team, and will react accordingly to how the team is performing.

I'm no psych, but these threads and those who support them cannot handle "negativity", to the point where they have to ask people to bottle their emotions so they don't have to see them on the forum. Kinds selfish, when there's are several avenues you can take to just ignore them.

Of course, you're not ignoring them though, and thus you just can't handle that others have a different opinion other than yourselves, so people make these threads. Very selfish.

You have to give credit to the defense the team (yes, even Brooks and Garcia) played in the 4th. That's what got the Rockets back in the game. McHale stuck with the group that played the best D and they won in the end.

With all due respect, you don't have any insight into what makes McHale tick. You just don't. This business about McHale needing to accept criticism and taking responsibility is unknowable from the outside looking in. Do you want some sort of press conference where he apologizes for his coaching mistakes? Nobody does that.

We know that McHale has been a winning coach with the Rockets without a stable roster. Even this year, the team has been without the starting backcourt with no functional backup center for large chunks of the year. Yet, his team wins. Players under him like Goran Dragic, Chandler Parsons, Omer Asik and Terrence Jones have improved. Does McHale not get credit for this, or is it all a one-way street?

The frustrations lie not with team record. It lies with underperforming relative to what we all KNOW they can play to. At least that's how I see it.

Just before the regular season started, we had beaten Indiana twice on a neutral court and spanked the Spurs on their home floor. Players seemed to know their roles, the offense was clicking and the defense was doing what it needed to win games.

As a veteran NBA fan and fan of the Rockets, I normally wouldn't enter any season cocky...but it was damn hard not to be almost giddy after their pre-season performance. More importantly, it gave me an indication of how high the upside to the Rockets was. And it was damn high.

Watching them struggle now is not only frustrating....its very confusing.

I'll agree, the way we look in the preseason and the regular season is almost night and day. But you got to remember, we had a way healthier squad then and most NBA teams do not take the preseasons seriously (in that there's no real consequences to losing or winning).

My concern is sometimes it seems like Harden and Howard are disconnected and operating on different systems. When they're in sync they look incredible, when they're not, Dwight's role seems to be diminished to just grabbing rebounds. Dwight hasn't complained about not getting touches but there are some nights when I would understand if he does.
