What do you guys think of Andre Miller? His shooting seems average, but if given good playing time he could be a good assist man. I'm bringing him up because if Rockets do trade Lin, I think we need to bring in another PG who can facilitate. He's owed $5mil this season and $4.6 mil (non-guaranteed) for next season. (http://www.hoopsworld.com/denver-nuggets-team-salary). He's also a vet who has playoff experiences and can bring leadership and mentorship to a group of young players. He's like Derrick Fisher, but way less annoying.

Yahoo Sports: After confrontation with coach, Denver suspends guard Andre Miller for two games. http://t.co/C8fAnrxUsl
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) January 2, 2014

Y! http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mneaffh then Houston: Lin and DMo for Lee and Dunleavy - better bench leadership Boston: Wallace and Lee for Deng - clear cap space Chicago: Deng and Dunleavy for Wallace, Lin and DMo - starting point while Rose is out; Wallace may have something left; the hope of DMo http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=qg4jw5e Asik / R.Lopez LMA / Jones Parsons / Dunleavy Harden / Dunleavy Lee / Beverley Solid for years to come... 2-4 rings
I was thinking about it today & wouldn't mind Melo with Harden & Howard. I know he's a 'chucker' & hasn't been the most efficient scorer, but playing alongside Dwight Howard & James Harden could possibly help by giving him more open looks, instead of the ridiculous amount of contested shots he has to take at the moment.
Melo has a player option (or to be precise an ETO). He's gone this summer if he ends up in Charlotte. The 1st pick isn't too sexy since it's a late pick. It's not much better than an early 2nd rounder. Lin is a good player. Contending teams shouldn't trade good important rotation players for a bunch of lesser players just to get a crappy pick. It's not a terrible trade for the Rockets, I get it, it's a bunch of decent bench players. I'd just rather have Lin on my team than all of these, and the pick is too low to change anything. But again, if Morey really wanted to get that cap space for this summer, in order to sign Lowry or another big upgrade to some position, then fair enough.
Well, you're right about that. I should have clarified that I think Melo would be crazy to leave $23.5M on the table. Especially, if this mediocre season persists and he's unable to shake his blackhole label. That said, I still think Charlotte agrees to this trade even with the ETO. Biyombo and MKG are owed a lot of money over the next couple years for players that aren't progressing at the rate they were expected. Gordon is an expiring contract and the Portland pick figures to be in the 20's. For a team that can say the best player in their franchise history was what...Gerald Wallace or Al Jefferson, the idea of getting a Carmelo Anthony for even half of a season has to be an appealing thought. But I get what you're saying. As for the Portland pick, it goes without saying that this is a loaded draft. Two picks in the 20's combined in a trade is more than enough to move up significantly in the draft for teams looking to trade down. Plus, who knows, DM could always make a trade for a third first rounder too. The Eddie Griffin trade comes to mind in such scenarios. Obviously, he was a total flop, but it doesn't mean it wasn't a risk worth taking. Overall, a trade a trade of this nature isn't my first choice. I strongly prefer Deng or Millsap; and hell, even a wild scenario like Rondo (or any other PG that can help us cut down the TO's). Just thinking last resort scenarios since our bench is too weak to leave untouched.
Unless he shatters a knee or something, I think there's no chance that Carmelo doesn't get max contract as a free agent. Sure, he'd lose some money by declining his Bird rights, very much like Dwight. But I doubt that would hold him in Charlotte. I think Charlotte and Knicks wouldn't consider a deal like that. As for the Portland pick going to Houston, it's a nice little asset that you might be able to trade just like any other asset. But this Rockets team should look to contend and be as good as they can be now, unless they get overpaid for some part. A very late pick plus some spare parts for a legit 6th man isn't that type of deal, IMO.
Charlotte would take Melo if it means just losing Bismarck and MKG, and also I could see him staying since CHA is heading in the right direction with Coaching and who the GM is and its MJs team doesn't Melo have a Jordan shoe deal,he could rake in alot of money with a Jordan SHoe with Hornet Colors on them. But that proposed trade I wouldnt do it for Houston.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lumm36c I know many aren't a fan of D-Will to Houston, but I am. So thats why I'm gonna post this.
not that impressive considering Lin is a bench player now and he's not even playing the PG position. Dragic on the other hand..
