Good God, man. Set some reasonable expectations. I'll be impressed with BOB if he actually watches field goal attempts.
Nothing to do with him specifically this team should have won at least 8 games this year this is NOT a 2-14 talent level team!! Rocker River
And it probably shouldn't have been a 12-4 talent level team last year either. There's going to be a lot of turnover on the roster regardless this off-season... combine that with the unknown of Foster/Cushing coming off serious injuries, nobody will be able to assess the true talent of this team till the next season starts. Even then, some coaches can do more with less talent... some need super-talented teams to make it all click.
I think you need to wait and see what the Texans do in free agency and the draft before you lay a standard of 10 games. The roster is going to be turned over and some key vets will not return. Then it depends on the draft. We still don't know what they are going to do at QB, which will be the #1 factor on having a legit chance at the playoffs. Who did you want the Texans to hire?
I get the feeling he'll be a great coach. I know new coaches aren't expected to lead their team to the playoffs in their first year, but, regardless, with this talent level, I expect the Texans to make it to the postseason this next year. Otherwise, it'll be hugely disappointing that this window they've had these past few years only nets them a couple of first round wins.
Fact is you might be overestimating the talent level of this team. Outside of JJ Watt and maybe...maybe Hopkins the talent is at the end of their prime. Cushing might never be the same, Andre is not going to bet better, Foster is coming off back surgery and our secondary is ****. I'll be elated if BOB can turn this team in to a playoff team with a rookie QB.
I disagree, I think the team was held back by poor coaching. The talent is there to make a KC style leap. DD
Completely disagree. KC was able to address one side of the ball in the offseason. Their defense was already good and young. The Texans have holes virtually everywhere. I don't rule out a big improvement...but I certainly do not expect it.
John Harris had an article on the HoustonChronicle.com about Bill O'Brien (link). Let's go put the film on, bro!
