I'd actually be ok with this, mostly to be done with this situation. An Andersen and T Jones rotation wouldn't be bad. Would be interesting to see them on the court at the same time too when going small.

Bend over and take the reduction in playing time. It would have been easier to trade him when his value was at its highest. Once the Rockets signed Howard, Asik's value was on the decline. It was never going to get any higher and Morey obviously failed to realize that. Get out of here with that 'team sport' garbage. It's about the bottom line; Morey certainly knows that. Don't get jilted when a player feels the same way.

The Wolves would be scary in that scenario. Anderson does not help our defensive issues. I wish Asik would just play the backup C role.

milsapp is a vet that could help the team with leadership, he is also a guy you can go to when you need to score, he has more 30point games than Howard this year, he understands rotational defense p&r defense & team defense because of his nba experience, he's a major upgrade over jones in the playoffs

I'm not big on getting him now because we need a wing defender back up center also, this summer he would have been perfect due to our NEED at pf

Asik won't play backup, hence the inexplicable "knee problem".

It's a good trade. We'd still need to address the prison-raping we take on the perimeter every night. Not that McHale prizes defense over offense.

If it's about the bottom line only, then Asik should be happy with what he's making. Again, Morey paid him more than what anyone else wanted to. Asik would surely be playing more (injury aside) but he chose not to. He'd rather pout and I don't respect that.

That's actually an interesting trade idea, but the Pels and Wolves are pretty happy with their guys and I don't know if they'd want to upset team chemistry and re-work their systems enough for the potential few wins it'd add.

I'm against it. Getting a bench player in return for trading Lin and Asik doesn't sound all that swell to me.

The only thing that's going to help this defense is effort. Harden actually giving a damn...the perimeter guys playing smarter...

    Maybe a new coach.

The Rockets don't really want cap space for 2014.

Ideal is to get that 3rd star. Then Rockets can make Parsons restricted this free agency and have the MLE + LLE to use.

Even though i would prefer to get another center in a trade, Deng would help bolster our defense, so i would be alright with that. Especially if a 1st rd pick was involved.

    Asik staying put for now

Word is the Rockets now expect to keep center Omer Asik past next month's deadline and beyond. The team ramped up efforts to create a market for Asik last month because it believed that was the most realistic window to get a deal done. Now, Houston is caught in a bit of a no-man's land. “Teams that are tanking don't want him to make them better and winning teams want to steal him,” one rival GM said. Plus, teams with room in 2015, when Asik will be a free agent, can sign him anyway – to a more reasonable contract. Asik's deal, which balloons to a $15 million cash payout next season, becomes more of a trade impediment the closer it gets to the deadline. A new team acquiring Asik before Dec. 15 would've owed him an average salary of $10.5 million over two years. At next month's deadline, with more of his cheaper $8.4 million salary absorbed by the Rockets, that figure would jump to about $12.5 million.
