If Lin got torched, then Beverly got literally destroyed the last time the Rox played the Kings.

    First off...

A player being torched does not necessarily mean how many points his guy scored on him... Points can come from different aspects in the game..

If a guy is consistently breaking a defender down and creating easy baskets for his teammates than that's about the same as him scoring on a guy... Points are points, doesn't matter how then came..

So if Lin held his guy to 5/10 shooting, but his man was able to drive past him to set up his teammates, then he was torched....

I didn't see the game, but I keep seeing the argument on him being torched... One being that he held his man for 6/17 shooting.. The other being that Lin's man drove past him more than an indy race car driver...

So if he held him to 12 points, but his man was able to set up his teammates for another 12 points... 12 + 12 = 24.

If you didn't see the game, then don't make sixth grade level what-if scenarios.

Lmao. What skill are you referring to? Is turning the ball over a skill? If thats the case Lin's by far the best pg we have

Back to topic, I think its pretty much clear we're a better team with Bev. Our defense has been HORRIBLE.

Pretty clear as day our defense still sucks with Bev.
It starts from coaching, then efforts. As much as i like Bev, he ain't gonna solve the puzzle on our perimeter D.

Lin got torched in the 4th Q. IT was able to get into the paint constantly. It's because Lin was being crushed by picks from DMC. Lin is still terrible at fighting over screens. But PNR D relies on team defense to stop it. The Rockets don't know how to play defense as a team and it's even worse when we go small ball. Asik would make a huge difference for this team but that's another story.

Under JVG our PNR D was beautiful. "Help the helper" was the philosophy. Imagine that... a coach who has defensive principles and is able to mold his team and players around that?

Yes, the pg gets credit for getting the ball to the open man. The fault however does not go to the defending pg all the time. It depends on how the open man got left alone. Someone guarding the 3 point line should not collapse inwards to double up on a driving player.

If your idea of good defense is to prevent anyone from getting within 20 feet of the basket, then this discussion is a waste of time.

I am all for bringing back JVG. In fact, anyone not named Mchale would do.

U mad? When did i blame Bev for playing bad D?
Instead of getting irritated easy and being butthurt, go read again what i posted. I said Bev wouldn't have made a big difference given the coaching staff we have.

Did anyone hear Clyde say Lin should stick to his man and not let IT get such easy shots after that play?

Well the defense has been a wash with both Bev and Lin starting. Both have had significant injuries with AB backing them up and no backup center in the second unit. There are multiple factors affecting the defense and it is a season long ongoing issue that can't be addressed by plugging in different players in the starting PG spot.

Lin had Thomas held in check in all respects for most of the game. He did get beat some in the 4th but lots of that was b/c he had to help.

I am glad you pointed out what the man was able to set up for his teammates b.c that applies to Bev too. And if you watch how Bev plays D, even when he holds his man to low scoring, they are doing exactly what you say- blowing by Bev and making a pass to an open man for the score. So that even goes further to highlight that Bev's defense ain't that great.

You read too much into it. Jesus Christ.

It still sucks with Bev doesn't mean Bev is bad.

    Whatever mate.

Lin played some pretty crappy defense, if you were watching on comcast, bill and matt called him out on it quite a few times.

Who is guarding the guy who received the ball? Is Jeremy supposed to guard both Isiah and the guy who received the ball?
