Coming back from injury into a 4 games in 5 nights situation is brutal. It's different of course, but anybody who has ever played a pickup game after being sick for a couple of weeks, and was immediately thrown into a game without having time to warm up or shoot around knows what I'm talking about. Lin will be fine once he gets some rest and some practice time to get his shooting rhythm back.
What's really strange was that not only Lin, but Harden, Garcia, and in several games TJones, Parsons, Brooks and Casspi had also lost their rhythm at the same time. Are there some reasons besides fatigue for that to happen?
I don't know if I care so much about this stat line with Lin. If he is going to resume the position as offensive initiator when Harden is sitting, I want him to attack the basket & create - that means FTA's, assists, and FG% at the rim would be the metrics I track for him. Beverley needs the three ball to be contributing.
Team chemistry is so tight, when 1 guy slumps, they all follow suit so he doesn't look bad. Garcia started it.
Obviously not (yes, I can detect sarcasm). Among current Rockets, only Parsons is hovering around the 50-40 mark (Dwight doesn't count because of sample size on 3's), but I doubt he'll ever shoot 90% from the FT line.
I think this is impossible for him... not cause he can't do it (besides the FT%) but cause he has a different roll on this team every other week (hell, he switches bwteen PG & SG like every 4 mins of playing time)...and he never has the sames mins... one game 20mins, another game 37mins... that's gotta be tuff to adjust on a game by game basis. Idk if its me but I feel like they never run any plays for him. By keeping Parsons in with the second unit...he's again not the first option which takes away FGAs... he's only avg ~7.5 FGA in the last 5 or so games last yr (11 FGA per/g) side note: I don't think he had a chance for this list from the get cause he was never close to shooting 90% from the Line.
If you look at Lin's numbers this year they align to what Harden did in his second year as a 6th man at OKC. You can go through the game logs from that year and find a number of games where he didn't get 10 shots per game, didn't shoot well from the field or played a lower number of minutes, and a number of games where the stat line was solid. Harden was a really good player then too, but he was behind Westbrook in the pecking order (and even Eric Maynard). It is hard to get a consistent stat line coming off the bench when your opportunities are limited. Harden didn't get 15-20 shot attempts back then and neither does Lin now. The difference between Harden's and Lin's situation is that the coaching staff in Houston doesn't back Lin or his style of play, and has asked him to conform to Houston's style. They won't run plays for him to get him going. They expect him to find his opportunities. He has adapted very well, but it's pretty clear from the games where he has had to fill in for Beverley or Harden that he is not being optimally used in his 6th man role.
Lin is useless. I don't know what happened to him but he's completely unreliable even as a scorer now, which used to be his strength.
Not exactly a huge fan of Lin especially with the way hes been playing recently, but this was always an unrealistic goal. Parsons probably could of come close this year if he knew how to hit FTs consistently.
Lin basically has one thing he's good at which is driving to the basket on the fast break. If this is not available he either turns it over, or misses an ugly shot. He can hit the occasional spot up three as well, but not consistently enough (below avg among PGs)
Harden at OKC is not comparable to Lin here. Harden was a stud there nearly achieving the 50-40-90 goal (49%, 39%, 85%). Lin fans like to blame the coach, the system, his team mates, but the reality is Lin is not at that level. OKC didn't conform to Harden, he came off the bench as a 6th man playing about 30mpg same as Lin. You can continue to blame the coaching staff for being racist or not "backing" Lin, you can blame his teammates for not supporting him, you can even blame the Toyota Center rim for being cursed. None of that is going to change reality.
Yes it is. - 50 awkward right-handed layup attempts when a left-handed attempt would be easier - 40 three point attempts with his foot on the line - 90 jumps while looking for a player to pass to
^ not surprised that a garbage post like this has no stats to backup the shady claims. Lin has a bad game? BLAME MCHALE!
