my studio partner just moved to St. Louis. I probably won't go back to studio any time soon. Anyone want a bridge partner online. I am looking specifically for someone willing to pay for an OKBridge subscription to play SAYC and maybe later want to learn Italian Blue Club over time. But am willing to play at yahoo to find a fit.
I dont know how to play Bridge but i will play Euchere with you online at yahoo. If anyone wants to play Euchere it up, just im me on aim: mrcleanjr04
I don't know how to play Bridge, but I was curious to see if there were any Go players out there. Whoops, sorry heypartner... off topic.
oh, forgot to add for the European players out there...I'll play that "I don't want to take on Iraq" Weak NT ACOL stuff ... whatever partner wants.
You should talk to my dad or grandma.... both have played with/against Bobby Wolff..... and won. Damn old people and their card games.......
I'm not real high on Master's points...but I can play. You play Duplicate, contract, tournament, what? I am willing to try, hp, but I haven't got the most time in the world, and we would need a lot of time just to sort out what conventions we'd use. I do love Bridge though, played for years and years from the age of 8 or 9 up to about 17 regularly...Since then I have hit the odd tournament, but nothing with any consistency, so you'd have to let me get the rust off.
I love bridge as well but, like MacBeth, have not really played in a long time. I would be very rusty...so probably not what you want. I also don't like online card games as much - it is not as good as the real thing.
i'm learning bridge from my parents, so i'm not good yet, and i do not life in the USA, if you ever come to holland, we can play bridge
you and your dancing. must be the most expensive sport ever invented, next to courting women. DrewP--is your dad interested in an online partner? MacBeth--SAYC ("Standard American Yellow Card") is a convention card invented in the 60s for social bridge. You probably already know about 90% of it. What we would do is go to okbridge and sit at a table labeled for "SAYC-only Please" players. The conventions aren't what we'd have to work out; I find what you have to work out is merely partner's system habits on destructive vs constructive bidding ... like when they double and don't and stuff...inviting vs forcing. and that just takes a little time, but you'd have to learn my habits has much as I'd have to learn yours. eg, I believe in destructive bidding. If you're consistent, then, it is usually pretty easy to learn partner. rimbaud--yeah, playing live is the best when people don't get stuffy about table talk. at duplicate studios you can't say a word...you are not even allowed to speak your bid. what's great about online, though, is the speed. with no shuffling/dealing, you can get in 10-12 hands per hour. what sucks about online is revolving door players and all the arguments...damn, just play. I can't tell you how many times i've seen one partner yell at the other (and they've got like 5 minutes of experience playing with each other) when both sides were right...depending on how you bid. sigh
I used to play "for fun," but haven't in years. Wouldn't mind starting again occasionally... For such a "testosterone-fueled" board, we certainly sound like a bunch of old women
HP...as long as you have patience, and are aware of my time limitations, i would love to play. No card game, short of Poker, is anything after you've played Bridge, and i do miss it. Ok, to recall...I played 13 min. bid unless 7 card pre-empt ( opening of 3 of suit), 10-12 response w/ change suit, 8-10 support, etc. can go on, but are we on the same page so far? 4NT is asking for aces, 5 NT is asking for K's, etc. Some jumps are declarative, ie if you jumo from 2 H to 3 NT, you are capping it. It's been a while, but it'll come back quick.
