The difference is Millsap is consistent, Jones is not. In the playoffs we need consistency!

I'm in the minority, but I think it opens up the possibility of trading Asik for th unprotected 2014 Nets pick. That's the main thing I want from an Asik trade.

You're in the minority because the Nets have already traded that away.

Varejao can play both the 4 and 5 spots...no need for a country western singer.

Plus, Jones tries to play out of his box (could be a good thing for later progression but right now it kills us).

Ie.. after rebounding he will go back for a impossible shot when a pass out is the FAR better option.

Ie.. rebounding and bringing it up the court like he is a pass first 4

Thing is, he has a couple out of a lot where he is successful and everyone forgets the majority of the T/O's. He is a good/decent player for his 3rd year I guess but he isn't the player to bring us to the next level.

Paul Millsap would make our starting core a little better, and our bench much better with TJ coming off it with Lin or Bev.

i think he might be talking about a pick they got in the joe johnson deal from the nets. i dunno but thats what i got out of what he said. i think New Jersey at the time gave them a 2014 unprotected 1st which is going to be a hell of an asset at this point. i could see them doing the deal but id rather try and get korver, hes what this teams missing, dmo can be a capable backup 15 min guy by playoffs. we dont have that deep three automatic guy like korver. plus hes alot better on defense than people give him credit for.

No, the difference is Millsap has a much more refined offensive game. In the playoffs, regular season consistency means nothing; flexibility and multiple options trumps all.

With all that being said, I'd much rather develop TJones and DMo than acquire/rent Millsap

It would take a 3rd team, but if we can get Waiters/Varejao, that's a great win now move and it doesnt hamsting us in 2015.

Waiters/Varejao solves 2 of the 3 major problems with this team: bench scoring (Waiters), backup 4/5 (Varejao), and a wing defender.

Varejao is nonguaranteed next year and Waiters has a team option for the 2015-2016 season.

    Good fit.

yes, they traded the pick to Atlanta that now has a huge need for a center.

TJones needs to show he can play defense against elite PFs... got killed by Dirk, LMA, West and in the playoffs there's also Griffin and Ibaka.

Atlanta has no incentive to tank because they have pick swapping rights with the terrible Nets. They will aim for the playoffs this season and swap their pick with Brooklyn. So there is no reason to tank.

    /Thread over.

Hawks don't need to tank....they get to swap picks with the Nets so they're tanking for them. Hawks will still make the playoffs and Horford could be back by then. No way they give up Millsap for Asik.

Hawks have it...not sure why they would give up a potential top 7 pick(IMO 7 potential franchise players this year) for Asik.

We wont get Milsap for Asik now that they lost Horford.

We may get some scrubs but definitely NO 1st round pick.

To me if we don't get a chance at a high pick, I keep Asik. Great backup and insurance if there is an injury.

No to Millsap. We need backup 2 & 5
If Lin to be traded, we also need a solid pg back, no worse than Geogre Hill.
