McHale is a crappy X's and O's coach but he seems to be a decent players coach.

Personally I really don't see how someone can watch Beverley and Lin and think it's a wash defensively, but it really doesn't matter right now -- Beverley isn't an option being out for several weeks and by the time he gets back, we should have good lineup data (offensive and defensive rating numbers) to compare of the starting lineup with Lin and with Beverley to see how net rating is impacted. There will be enough games for both to get a good grip on which lineups perform best.

    That was an awesome play.

Sorry dude I go on here and people yapping about Lin this and that without any care for the win at all.

So I must tell the fools that the most important letter is W not L

How about this: the gap between their defense is smaller than the gap between their offense.

team defense and rotation defense was never a concern on the forum.
that's why after two years, we are still awkward to screen.
jeremy should stick to his guy only just like others.

The big guys did what they were supposed to do. Harden scored great in the 4th and made buckets at other times. Lin played solid D, facilitated well, this time played within the game and didn't force and he also made big baskets to stop an SA run I think in the 3Q. Parsons was on fire in the first half, hitting bucket after bucket, he really had his shot going and got more buckets on jump shots than on drives. Dwight was a force down low even though SA mixed up the defense on him. The whole team played better defense and offense today, they played more like a team and helped better on PnR. Jones played well too, he had a solid game. The big 4 did their thing, the big 4 on SA (Ginobili, Duncan, Parker, Leonard) didn't do as well so the Rockets prevailed.

I am a Lin fan. I have been very happy during and after the game, until I see posts like this one!

Every single game, come into the game threads to see some posts. Everything is always complaining or arguing about lin. Can't we just enjoy a good win for the team? Jesus.

Parson saved our ass in 1st quater.

Dwight and Jones protected the rim throughout the game.

Jeremy came up big on 3rd when Dwight was out for foul trouble.

Harden close the game with 16p in 4th quater alone.

The ultimate test really is the Ws and Ls. No doubt Beverley is the better one on one defender, but as a whole I don't really see how someone can say that Bev is an overall better player (or even on the same level).

Dwight still has problems recognizing double teams in the post and when he should pass out of there. 5 TO tonight. But when he's one on one, truly dominant force. I kinda revising my opinion of him and slowly but surely the dude is getting back into superstar form.

I don't know, but again, net rating. All that matters is lineup performance. If Jeremy Lin can penetrate and score better than Beverley (which most agree he can), that's great... but if he's turning the ball over more frequently and less shots are given to Harden, Parsons and Howard, is the lineup performing any better?

And that's not including defensive impact... and who knows, the same could be said on that side. Beverley may be a more talented defender, but if Lin is playing solid help/team defense, then that too should show in the numbers for that lineup's performance.

Like I said -- we'll get a good idea of the numbers by then. There's no need to argue about it now because it's staying this way for 4-6 weeks. Lock in Harden-Parsons-Jones-Howard and they'll compare the lineup performance with Lin and with Beverley when it's all said and done.

i think Lin is just better at guarding smaller guard. His speed will make up for the deficit greatly.

Beverley is a better defender, able to pressure the ball/ can be incredibly disruptive, but just because Lin isn't as effective defending that way doesn't mean he's a bad defender. He played well tonight, good to see McHale challenging him with Parker.

What were the TOs? I think 2 travels and an OF and then maybe stripped 2x? I think he gets fouled a good amount and for a star, he doesn't get as many calls as you'd think he would.

Harden did not win the game tonight. It was a team effort on offense AND defense.

I think the Rockets weren't getting that many calls because
    1) It's Christmas, refs don't want to extend the game, they got families and stuff

2)Spurs homecourt, they get more calls on Christmas as a present to the home crowd

Not that it matter since a certain Black Santa just stuff 16 pounds of coal in their stockings but you know.....

Actually, I tend to think Lin is better with bigger guards (as they tend to be less quick and agile).
