Lin has been just as good as Parsons this year but most people peg Parsons as an all-star but Lin as a sixth man of the bench.

We also had a much healthier roster than we do now.

Ouch. However, there's no question in my mind that we have a much better team this year. Injuries, the TT experiment, and the Asik situation have taken their toll. That record comparison still stings though.

What about the coaching? I see that as a huge influence in the losses for the Rockets.

My assessment on Mchale is that he has under-performed. He is horrible at player minutes management (a huge reason why we have so many injuries this season) and in game adjustments

Really??? I dont think this year roster is better

Morris and Patterson could both stretch the floor ---Jones is good Dmo cannot get on the floor

Even though Delfino hasn't played yet this year he was better last year than both Casspi and Garcia are this year

Toney Douglas is better than Beverley as an all around player

Injuries are part of the game--Bulls just embarrassed Nets 95-77 w/o Rose and Deng cause they play team defense

Rockets are 24th in NBA in Points Allowed!!! giving up 102 points

Should have traded Asik in the Off-Season,could have used the Players we could have fetched in the trade

Pretty much in agreement with all these points, but I think Howard combined with Parson's beasting (after the first few games) outweighs the decline of the bench/role-players.

Injuries are for sure part of the game, but the quantity of injuries the Rockets have had is more significant than the norm. Also, not sure if the Nets and Bulls example is good for your position. Both teams are extremely underperforming right now due to injuries.

What do you think our record would be without the TT experiment, the health of last years team, and Asik playing? Wouldn't it be significantly better than at this point last year? (I'm too lazy to look into relative strength of schedule, so feel free to torch me on that)

Absolutely. Parsons, AFAIC for the season, not the last month but whole season, is the same as Lin. I don't put him before or after Lin. Both are number 3 best players. Like 3A and 3B and Lin has produced as 6th man or starter, either one.

If you look at it this year the reason the "TT" experiment was put in was because Motiejunas was complete and utter trash in the preseason he had flashes but not consistent enough. The reason its not working because Howard or Asik cannot step out and hit a 15 foot jumper like other big men tandems in the league (Duncan-Splitter/ Perkins-Ibaka/ Noah-Boozer/ Lopez-Garnett and others so it wasn't going to work. On Bulls they do not have a closer right now. Bulls are dead last (30th) in Points Scored but are 2nd in Points Allowed so they have to lock you down to win. Now with the records I cannot equate the two seasons but if they ens up with the same record and gets kicked out in the first round again it would be a failure in my eyes.

I am glad someone cremated this thread. Granted I can only watch nationally televised games because my wife hates comcast. However, this team right now as constructed won't make it past the second round. We rely on three ball way too much. We are atrocious on defense. Way too many iso plays and way too many turnovers. However, they seem to be improving with the pick and roll. Lastly, they have lost to the lakers once, the clippers twice, the mavericks twice, and our schedule seems to be getting harder. I see this team as a four-five seed in the west

I'll be really surprised if our record isn't better than last years, especially if we can get semi-healthy (ie not have multiple key players playing through injuries all season). That said, I'm definitely worried about another first-round exit, for the reasons you described. Health and what we get for Asik will make the difference in that regard, imo.
