BWAHAHAHAHA!!! We'll settle this matter once and for all!!! The battle begins... PRC versus ARC! This is how it goes: 1. State whether you're part of the "Pro Rudy Club" or "Anti Rudy Club". 2. In ONE sentence explain your reason why. THAT'S ALL! Majority rules.
crazy...... PRC He got one more season to show us his stuff.. come on Rudy, we still believe in ya!.... err.... well a few of us do...................
I, for one, would find it impossible to pick one or the other without knowing the alternative. Are you asking on a do we fire Rudy for the sake of firing him/change basis alone? I'm not dismissing that view, just need clarification.
Macbeth, it's like this... with the team as it stands right now (no trade ideas), how do you think he has done to incorporate each player into their role on the team. has it been successful, will it be successful given time, or has he had enough time?
1. ARC (also known as the Pro Movement & Good Bball Club) 2. see #1 by the way, if you are in the ARC, doesn't that inherently make you anti-eddie, since he has no ARC at all?
seriously, i like eddie. in fact, i think he has a greater chance of adding arc than rudy has of adding movement.
How about bring in Carlisle as rudy's replacement. His job is on the line now. http://www.freep.com/sports/drewsharp/drew29_20030429.htm I think it's not a good idea to overachieve in regular season. If piston was 4th or 5th seed and eliminted in the first round, I think he would be fine. You are 1st seed now and your job is on the line. We dont make the playoffs and our coach will keep his job.
PRC and proud of it. I point to his accomplishments as a player (both in college & pros), the way he worked up within the organization to stake his claim as head coach, his accomplishments as a coach (both in the pros & internationally), his reputation around the league (in front offices, among his peers & among players), and his good standing with the Houston community. (You didn't say how long my sentence could be.)
GRP and PRC Get Role Players: We have too many people who need the ball to be successful. PRC: We would be in the playoffs if it wasn't for his cancer.
We would be in the playoffs if it wasn't for multiple losses to teams that suck ass. see: chicago bulls, washington bullets (they're no wizards), new york knicks, la clippers, seattle, etc.
Chicago's not as bad as you might think ... well, as long as they're playing at home anyway. I think they're gonna make the playoffs in the East next year.
ARC. Rudy = bad basketball. That "defense" against the pick and roll - begone! The deer-in-the-headlights slackface, the mind-numbing ball-pounding, clock-eating, the abominable stubborness, the hormonal attachment to "special" pet players, the too-late timeout that leads to a stunning new turnover, the bewildering substitution of defenseless "starters" for defensive stops, the corruption of devil's-playground iso, ugh! Go way!
pasox2, I mean seriously... Rudy is dealing with youth; he was tasked with meshing a losing team together, assimilating a rookie center who missed training camp, hailing from a totally different country (and culture) into a purported brand new offensive scheme. That would be a challenge for anyone...ANYONE!!! It did not surprise me, given Yao's quick progress and flashes at greatness, that the system was somewhat scrapped and a new offense (running through Yao) was put on the whiteboard. The problem with whiteboard offenses and plans for that matter, is they can be easily erased, by cleaning people (Bulls, Clippers, Heat). The offense will be set perhaps even moved to paper, given the year we've had to assess Ming's skills. That is the advantage over last year. The points you make about the stalling, dribbling, bone-headed mistakes, and ineffectiveness are eloquently stated, but are a result of Plan A (new offense tied with new players) failing and youth taking over. Rudy's style is a players' coach, you cannot change that, that is who he is. To think that a Riley-style dictator could be brought in and the team have been any more effective than it was this year, just makes little sense given the hurdles this team had to clear to allow it to assess its abilities (and lack thereof). Now there wouldn't have been enough room on the bench for all the doghouses Riley would have likely had, but that is a management style and I'm not convinced that a heavy hand draws the most production out of the golden goose (Rockets). Winning takes time, just ask Dallas, or Sacramento, Los Angeles, or even frickin' Microsoft. For our expectations to be a bit high is Rudy's fault? Sans cancer, Rudy successfully coaches this team into the playoff...PERIOD!!! Granted, we'll never know if that statement is founded in fact or not. Rudy deserves another chance, given that his medical condition stopped short what may have been a playoff, but likely quick exit in the first round, season.
