lol...lin played well against deron in his first matchup, but ever since then Deron has been giving it to Lin. I understand you are a big fan of lin, but this is too much.

I don't know what point your trying to prove but he also has 8+ years on Lin.
Fans still don't realize Lin is just a baby getting his feet wet in this league and he's already accomplished a lot, and getting even better

King : uhh he's not going anywhere.

This is just the warm up, its a certainty Asik + Lin (high probability) will be gone by Feb for 2015 flexibility reasons.

Yeah, the money's bad for Deron Williams, but has he really fallen off that much? He could still be a difference-maker. With the injury to Beverley, New Jersey's injury to Lopez, the Asik situation and Lin's history in New York, it kind of looks like the circumstances are falling in place for a deal. Maybe Teletovic would be a good fit for the Rockets too? Maybe there's a deal here somewhere that could help both teams. New Jersey could get younger and maybe salvage their season. Maybe Deron Williams isn't the perfect third impact player for the Rockets to go after, but there's no guarantee Kevin Love would choose Houston anyway. The Rockets are looking to win now, with Howard and Harden healthy and in their prime. It's something to look at.

KG and Terry are both having their career lows there, but if we could squeeze something out of them, they both expire together next year (17 mil). If healthy for playoffs, KG could provide the Pick & roll defense and defensive rebounding, while Terry could be backup SG and 3 point shooting. Again, very risky as both are very old, Nets would need to include multiple picks if they want Asik and Lin for them.

I don't know about that. I think Lin at $8.3 million/year for 1.5 years is better than Deron at $20+ million/year for 3.5 years.

Deron is a better player, but not better enough to justify that contract.

It's an interesting way to post stats, but did you miss some numbers?

You also need to take into account the difference in their rolls.

Deron Williams is the #1 option for his team and opponents setup their game plan to try and stop him. Against Houston teams are gearing up to try and stop Howard and Harden. That emphasis on shutting down Harden and Howard gets Lin and others open shots.

Put Deron Williams alongside Harden and Howard and he'll have a lot more opportunities to make plays that he doesn't currently get.

Which numbers? Those are the only head to head matchups that I found.

Exactly. DWill was competitive with Lin and seeing DWill on a game to game basis watching the Nets, I'd rather have Lin going forward. I'm not looking at just now and names, Lin is a name in his own right and will improve. DWill doesn't show me that same hunger and grit that Lin does in games and that's why I pick Lin, plus I like Lin's character better.

Bad terminology on my part. Lopez was their leading scorer but Williams is the focus of the opposing defenses. Teams don't double Lopez on the catch as teams do with Dwight. Williams gets doubled to take the ball out of his hand and bigs leave their man to cut off his penetration.

It is a big difference between being the focus of the opposing defense vs having the defense geared to stop your teammate.

Lin destroyed Williams that first game. I remember watching that game, since that was the first time I'd seen Lin. Lin shut down Williams and repeatedly burned him off the dribble. I think most of the damage Williams did was against Tony Douglas. (Lin didn't start that game.)

Williams destroyed Lin the second game. He was on fire and Lin couldn't stop him.

The other games were both players were meh, but the Rockets won both so that doesn't look too good for Williams.

The problem with having Williams on the team is now you have two backcourt players who don't play defense. (Williams is a significantly worse defender than Lin.) He is not an upgrade over Lin for the amount of money he's getting paid.

Those are legit points about Williams.

But.....what do you think we could get in a trade for him?

#Superstars have a lot of trade value.

I understand the superstar label, but what team would want Williams for 20 million a year when there are cheaper options out there without much of a downgrade.

Maybe a contending team without salary cap concerns, but is there such a team right now?

What was that rumored Sacramento trade package again?

    or

How about a team fixing to lose their superstar to free agency?

    or

How about another team that is practically standing on their head to get Rondo but Boston doesn't want to trade him?

    or

How about those Celtics in another year if Rondo decides he wants to move on?
