I think Kareem would flourish in a tampa-2 but I don't think our safeties would do too well in deep coverage.
I would not mind Lovie Smith to be the coach either. Unless you have a stud QB, defense still wins in this league, just ask Kansis City or Carolina. With a solid defense it would be easier to groom an up and coming rookie QB, again look at Rothlisberger's rookie year with The Steelers, or Russel Wilson in Seattle. The pressure would be off that rookie to just do his thing, and our offense has pretty good players on it already. However, like everyone says, it is very important to get a competent OC and make sure you fix that right side of the offensive line. I probably would prefer the Texans took Clowney at no. 1 and made sure that defense is the best in the league for years to come, get a QB in the second round so instead if he does become a bust it would not be a catastrophe if it were the first pick in the draft
why they think the texans have a good defense?? the YPG stats are very misleading, this defense cant get turnovers, and the cant pressure the QB and cant cover WRs on man to man. JJ Watt is the only one making plays. Huh? Lovie Smith took the Bears to the superbowl with Rex Grossman and a crappy offense, and they lost that superbowl, because the Bears offense kept making turnovers. the offense only scored 10 points, after Devin Hester opened the game with a kickoff return for a TD, and the offense always got a nice field position, because the colts never kicked deep to Devin Hester after the TD. this was the starting lineup on offense for Chicago in the superbowl: WR Muhsin Muhammad LT John Tait LG Ruben Brown C Olin Kreutz RG Roberto Garza RT Fred Miller TE Desmond Clark WR Bernard Berrian QB Rex Grossman RB Thomas Jones FB Jason McKie the texans offense right now (even with Schaub), its much better than this team.
Jay Glazer: Texans had a 7 hour interview with Lovie Smith. They've continued to call him this week. McNair said, despite what you may see, I will be making the decision. They want a guy with NFL HC experience because they think they're close and need a guy to put them over the hump. Another hot name down there is Ken Whisenhunt.
Ive been saying from the beginning of whos gonna be the next coach thread that rex would be a good fit here. But i do think fat rex would be better than thin laid back rex.
As long as they fire him right away once they realize the team is not close to the "hump", needs a major rebuild, and they get a non re-tread HC that can help do that.
