My prediction Lin will be traded between Dec 15-19 (make yours)

    Tonight's game???

Well Beverley is playing kinda meh lately. Not really steaming up the board with his D although it's still quality and his shot is blowing hot and cold. Hill, on the other hand, is looking very pedestrian himself. Both guys are kinda in the same role, 3&D, for their respective teams and not doing anything special. I expect that to continue tonight.

Let's predict what basketballholic is going to say when Lin and Asik still remain on the Rockets roster tomorrow. :)

Not sure if you see the difference. That other thread was based on management openly stating they are planning for Asik to be traded. Hence, the predictions. This one came out of nowhere and I feel that is where the criticism is coming from.

    Basketballholic,

I maybe the only one. But I actually applaud you for doing a good service.

At this time, I counted at least 5 tread dedicated to various aspects of Asik's trade:
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248353
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248270
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248507
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248541
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248528

There is even one for D-Mo:
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=248496

If one do a search for Houston Rocket trade, Jeremy Lin's name definitely came up the second after Asik.

If there are dedicated threads on Asik and D-Mo, I definitely think there is a place for a thread talking about Jeremy Lin trade.

Just for public record, I don't think Jeremy Lin is going to get traded and his injury timeline is probably just a coincidence. But I can also see why some people see the unreal (and almost perfect match in timeline) coincidence between his injury timeline and Rocket trade timeline. And now the (self imposed) trade deadline is over, I can see why people can be kind of suspicious that both Asik and Jeremy suddenly recovered.

On top of that, there are photos of Jeremy bending his back sitting down, or carrying backpacks, etc. during his supposed back spasm recovery period.

I wish there is a tread that one can talk about useful topics such as: is it normal for players to call in sick during the trading period? or it is normal for players to carry backpack and sitting down doing art crafting work when he has back spasm?

Unfortunately, Jeremy Lin's name is so toxic here, any mention of him is being used by both sides to attack each others.

Yeah, but once again this is not about Lin getting traded. If I felt strongly that Asik was out the door today I'd have posted a thread with Asik in it. But I didn't because I could see the distinct possibility of Asik NOT being dealt until the deadline and possibly not even being dealt then.

I still feel like Lin is going to be traded today. Probably wont change my feeling on that until around 11 p.m. tonight or unless Beverley is traded today which I simply don't see happening.

I will acknowledge your greatness if any of this turns out to be true. But if it doesn't perhaps you should acknowledge that your 'feelings' about trades do not merit their own threads.

When I read this, it's like, "Here we go again." Especially when you mention teams like Milwaukee (!) that can't afford their own arena's concession workers, let alone Lin's balloon payment.

On the other hand, I'm almost hoping you're right. I'd hate to eat the crow, but tying up a lot of money on a player who runs hot-and-cold is almost as bad as typing up nearly $30,000,000 in cap space for the center spot (well, throw in some extra for Greg Smith's salary and wasted money on Camby etc etc).

    A few things:

    1. You're taking my comments personally, and that was not my intention. If I offended you with the "yuck," I apologize.

    2. In my post, I did not mention that Jeremy is not "good." Yes, he is on an NBA team because he has talent. He has had great games. He has had games that warrant D-League status. Again, my comment was about the fanbase and the "yuck" I included was not about Jeremy as a person or a player. The "yuck" is my disdain for solely supporting any given player over a team and its accomplishments. I do not understand--as a longtime fan, athlete and coach--the mentality of supporting one guy above a team's goal. Hence, the "yuck" to me symbolizes my interpretation of selfishness among those who only care that one player does well, even if the rest of that player's team, who he WANTS to win, suffers. No, I don't get it. Does it bother me? Yes, because basketball, in my opinion, is a TEAM sport.

    3. I did mention that the Jeremy Lin "FanBase" is more focused on individual accolades than how well the Rockets do. I would debate all day about his ability in comparison to other guys on our roster, but that's not the point. Once again, to me the Rockets are a TEAM. They are not the Houston Lins, so I don't understand the thought behind this "fandom."

    4. Merry Xmas

Not to try to defend Lin, just want to point out the fact that Howard, Harden, Parsons, and Beverley they all have their share of "hot-and-cold"ness, and I think they will continue to have this.

This thread need to be closed. Pacers embarrass rockets. Admit that the prediction is wrong and move on. Why keep exposed and get embarrassed?

Not embarrassed. It didn't happen. Was an educated speculation. Nothing more. I'll be making more.

I did give myself a small out. 90%. 10% chance he gets dealt at the trade deadline. But I'm rethinking that one as well. I really think Lin could be dealt at a moment's notice. As soon as Morey gets the right deal I think he deals him. But I think he's gonna push really hard to move him at the deadline if Lin is still here then.
