Either start Lin, or bring in a new starting PG, Bev ain't cuttin' it.

the problem ISN'T the fact that their games are similar. the problem is that when the ball is not in their hands, the offensive game plan is to go in a corner and stand there. there is no movement. there is no back picks. there is no off ball plays to free up shooters. with the ball in lin's hands, the play can still go to harden. it just doesn't start and end with harden.

we ask harden and lin to penetrate but with few movement. their skill is getting to the rim and scoring or drawing the foul. the offense needs to utilize the pass. harden and lin both get by their man fine but help defense is when they turn the ball over. there you need proper spacing. its hard to pass in traffic when your only choices are standing 23 feet from the basket.

 

It's just Morey's luck that the two superstars he's able to get onto the team play the same positions as the two players he gave poison pill contracts to.

 

Harden doesn't actually play PG. He and Bev combined for a whopping 3 assists tonight. Neither of them is a true facilitator.

 

He's the primary ballhandler and averages the most assists on the team. That makes him a PG in this system. Whether or not he is a true PG can be debated but his role on this team is a PG.

 

Beverley has less assists per game than Carmelo anthony. that's shocking to be honest. That black hole gets more assists. well it's disappointing really.

 

Remember last year they tried to get td to do what pb is doing now? Remember that Portland game where they benched Lin for td? And people say mchale doesn't hate Lin. Lol.

 

To be fair, he sees what happens to Lin when Lin gets a turnover. He doesn't want to suffer the same fate.

That's precisely why Bev can't make plays. He won't learn anything if he doesn't take risks. No plays... No risks... No TOs.

good point. James Harden is the Real PG. he could improve his A/TO ratio though. And PBEV as a SG isn't doing so hot from 3 and his passing isn't even great for a PG. But hey, it's a long season. I hope BEV really improves and dedicates his life to getting better at the game of basketball.

 

Kinda in the same way Michael wanted to give it to Tony f'ing Douglas at one point. Keep telling yourself it's not some kind of agenda, personal issue. I bet you this game would of been a lot more entertaining without our Defensive Juggernaut helping out so much.

 

Bev will improve. He has heart. I just don't think he'll ever be a legit starting point guard. Being in this role is stifling his development. If he was on the second unit, he would have room to expand his game and learn some playmaking. Right now, he is Harden's ballboy.

 

Right, Lin should be out there playing PG, turning the ball over, getting trapped, making bad decisions, and then watching film and seeing what the teams are doing, improve on these things progressively to become a stronger player. He can't being asked to just drive to the hoop with the second unit and he's 25, still young but not real young, but really only in his 2nd year, and this is what the Rockets would do if they really got point guards and got that this guy has a lot of talent. That's why so-called LOFs want him moved. However, he is a Rocket and even in this role if he plays well he'll play at critical junctions in the game and still improve. Harden has to improve a great deal too. No so called superstar status means players stand around and let Harden do everything and not feel involved in the game. That's a recipe for an unhappy team.
