I doubt the kings are going to be looking for a trade like that. I think our best chances will be with the teams that are crumbling in the first round like Indiana and New Orleans, and hopefully the Lakers! Unless we can get Brand, I want to stay away from the Clippers. Its just a vibe I get from that team. Also, yeah, If the players still like Rudy, he will stay. Of course, next year is his last chance. I'm not TOO down on him yet, but there isn't an improvement in our game plan and we struggle, he could be gone by midseason.
In fact I believe the Kings and Rox could be in deal land, depending on the outcome of the Kings' playoff run. For one major thing they have about 93 2's on their roster, from 6th Man of the Year Bobby Jax (yeah, he's a Point, shoot first Point, and plays with Bibby in some sets) to Christie (the likely one traded) to Jimmy Jax (playing the 3 some, but primarily a 2), Hedo (not playing much but due a big new contract), and that athletic dude, Gerald Wallace. Did I miss anyone? Christie's age and contract makes him trade fodder (to make room for Hedo, primarily). The Rox could and should be interested.
SAR is a good passer, and dynamite from the wing. He'd be great at the three here with Ming and Francis, able to swing to four on occasion. Team him with PJ Brown and you have a winner. Add Alvin Williams to help in the backcourt - even better. I don't know why this is such a hard sell, lee. That's the right kind of talent to complement a Ming/Francis axis.
We wouldn't pick up damon jones. We just cut him last season so he could get PT. I dont think the Rockets would pick up someoone they cut last season.
OK...the Kings have a lot of SG's. They will not take on Rice's contract and Mobley is also a 2. It's the Kings who aren't interested. As I mentioned before, Geoff Petrie has done a great job of building the Kings and if he's interested in swapping you a 2 for Griffin I'd be very careful that he sees something you don't. IOW, look at how Webber prospered once he got locked away in a city with no soul food.
Read my post if we didn't have Cato, Mo T and moochie on the books, I would pull that deal in a heart beat, since we do, its next to impossible to have 3 max players and Cato, Mo T, and moochie. I think Cato's value is actually high enough that I don't want to lose him. If we can trade MoT in the same deal for SAR, I would be all for it, but I don't see that happening. One last thing, maybe Mo T can return to his pre - injury self, talk about his lack of rebounding skills all you want, he was a force on the offense. The injury forced him to be inconsistent on offense this season, I still think an offseason would do some good to him, I've alsonoticed he hustled a lot more this year, especially he had to fight for pt. He averaged just 1.6 off reb/ game in 29 min/g that year and the year before, He avg 1.4 off reb/game in 20.8 min/g this year in 20 mpg. This is a more telling stat than anythign because off rebs are the ones which a player has to fight for, and lets not forget he doesn't jump that explosively this year compareable tot he last, just shows how much more he's fighting for the ball. If he can get back to where he was physically 2 years ago while maintaing the same mental strength, I think he'll be very good for this team.
