Is this a promotion or a demotion? I guess Philly radio market is bigger, but going from the drive time to night time seems like a demotion. The guy who used to do the night show with Barry quit to be a teacher and I am pretty sure teachers probably don't make that much.
So he's sidelining with The Touchdown Brothers? <iframe width='450' height='300' src='http://usave.it/t/RBWs13fN' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>
Definitely a demotion. Philly is the #8 radio market, Houston is #6 according to Nielsen. And going from drive time to evenings.
Market size means little in this instance. I 100% guarantee Philly pays its hosts more than Houston does. I know for a fact that it does. Philly is a hard core sports market that rakes in ad dollars plus it's an FM Signal. Time slot might be a demotion to some, $$$ wise, no chance.
http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2013/12/josh-innes-leaving-kilt-for-job-in-philadelphia/ “The main reason I decided not to stay here is that I didn’t want to do that show with Rich anymore,” he said. “I don’t really like him. I’m not going to say that I’ll miss him or that he’s a friend of mine.” Innes, however, had high praise for his other KILT co-workers and for Ryan McCredden, the station’s program director, and former CBS Radio Houston executives Brian Purdy and Gavin Spittle, who hired him for his first major market radio job. Despite his personal differences with Lord, he said he was proud of the quality of their show and of its support of Houston charities. “People listen because they care about what you have to say. If they want to hear about sports, they want to hear it from you because you’re their guy,” Innes said. “Our show set itself apart. It ticked off people and sometimes ticked off the co-host, but after all is said and done, maybe down the line what we did will be appreciated. “We didn’t invent the wheel. We didn’t change the face of radio, but it was different (for Houston). I’m proud of what we did.” Lord had no comment Thursday regarding Innes’ departure or his comments.
And this kids is what happens to you when you question Daryl Morey's job status. All downhill from there.
Good riddance. Total waste. If only his dad had just ###### off into a sock instead of subjecting the world to the fat slob scumbag of a son who confuses snarky sarcasm with actual sports knowledge. He'll thrive in Philly where he can dog out our sports market. The fact he had to fire off a last shot at Rich Lord? I'm no fan either, but he should take the high road. Not the low road, as I'm doing with him.
So their ratings plummet the instant the station no longer has in season Texans programming and he was banned from Texans shows How did he hold out for so long and how is he still employed? Is radio management really this inept?
I am not a fan of Josh Innes, but I can totally understand him not wanting to be on the air with Rich Lord. Rich Lord is such a hack. I cannot believe he has been on the air all this time.
Because Rich Lord is that consummate corporate kiss ass who will never rock the boat so that he can reap all the nice perks with his job; ie. being the Texans sideline reporter and such. I hope Sean knows what he's getting into, which is basically carry dead weight on the air for 3+hours.
So much for their lack of chemistry all being an "act". Gavin Spittle is the Rick Smith of radio GMs, and Josh Innes is his Ed Reed.
So does that mean Rick Smith will leave the Texans and go to a powerhouse organization like the Patriots or 49ers? Because essentially Gavin left for Dallas, the largest and highest rated CBS station in this part of the country...
Innes hasn't had a hall of fame career. He's more like Phil Buchanon, or if strictly free agents, Jacques Reeves.
I don't know Josh, but I do know Rich and I'd like to think I'm a pretty good judge of people. Rich isn't a good guy, he's a GREAT guy. You may not like his on air persona but he's a great guy and a good friend. People that crap on Rich or think he's a jerk either have an axe to grind or have never spent time with him in a normal setting. Crapping on a coworker in a paper on the way out the door is a low rent move. I'm happy for both Rich and Sean. They're both really good people that you'd want to have a beer with and watch sports.
The only reason I could stand to listen to their show was due to Innes. I can't stand Rich Lord and his no balls takes on sports. His takes are weak and his commentary is sleep inducing. Innes did go off topic a lot but I feel that was due to the fact that him and Rich couldn't hold a real conversation due to their opposing personalities. At times it felt like he was trying to get fired. One thing is for sure, I feel bad for Pendergast. He'll have to keep that entire show a float on his own. Too bad the Texans like kiss-ass soft journalists that won't make a negative remark about the organization. Can't stand Vandermeer either.
I was never a fan of Innes or Rich Lord. I'm sure Rich is a nice guy, but his lack of Houston sports knowledge is very apparent every time he opens his mouth. Rich Lord should be a DJ on a regular radio station because it seems like he always wants to talk about music or any other topic besides sports. Innes is an idiot. The guy came in and tried to "shock" the audience with a smug attitude and an tried to hard too be edgy. All he did was alienate the majority of his audience. The back and forth with Morey was unprofessional to say the least. The fact that he got owned by Frank Caliendo was epic and this last shot at Rich Lord, well what else would you expect. I'm glad he's gone and they're bringing in Pendergast, who actually knows sports and has some very good opinions. This can only help Rich (just like when he was with Pallilo a few years ago). I might actually start listening to 610 again.
