I agree with the point you're trying to make, but can't help saying that you are over-reacting to the trade. Bass and Lee are slightly overpaid players at MLE-ish contracts but can contribute to the team winning. Bass has one more year and Lee two more years left on the contract. Don't sound like we are taking back a Gilbert Arenas.

But yes, I would rather keep Asik for now than making that trade.

Asia's value is at a new low. I don't think it can get much lower than Bass, Lee, and a bad pick. No sense in making a trade for the sake of it, even if he's disgruntled.

Worst comes to worst, we make the same deal in February.

Asik's going to suck in order to help reach his career goals? Don't think so.

Asik should now realise if he wants to be traded he has to move his trade value up. This can only benefit the rockets....so for now I'm happy he is still with the team

Sigh. You all are disagreeing with King Morey? Shame on you. The chance that Asik would be moved by 12/19 was 50% at best. NO contracts past summer of 2015! No bad trades! And funny, Morey seems to agree with me.

I am happy Asik stays. Rockets still need him. Do you know when he returns?

So your saying, we should be sad that we are able to keep one of our best impact players?

    Yep.

I'd rather have a disgruntled Asik than the combo of Bass and Lee.

Rockets fans' biggest Xmas wish should be a happy Asik.

When Asik grows a pair and mans up to his responsibilities. If this guy was black, asian or hispanic he would be all over the news as if he was a criminal.

Sometimes the good trade is the one you didn't make. This is one of those times, a courtney poop platter would have made us even less of contenders. Most of the people here have no idea what leverage means, the Rox have the leverage so theyrr using it to stand pat until a good trade comes along. Meanwhile, work Asik to death so you cab save DH from wear and tear.

I am glad Asik is staying as well. There is still a chance he could be moved, but we didn't need to meet an ultimatum to better this team. The ultimatum was so that these guys could be moved again, but it's doubtful that our pipedream of Love will come to fruition, because the Wolves will not move him.

If we do end up moving him later on for Millsap or Thad Young, then we're getting a better haul than we would be getting from Boston. Let it wait out. Show teams that we are in charge on when we move him if we do decide that moving him is the best decision. We can be legit contenders and by trading him for Boston's crap is not making us any better than keeping a disgruntled Asik.

Furthermore, one thing that I find a bit ironic about the whole situation is that when we were in talks with the Bulls years ago to trade them Courtney Lee, the breaking point and reason that the Bulls would not budge is because we demanded Asik. Now we have Omer and in moving him (while being darn near forced to trade him), we know better than to trade him for Lee, Bass, and a draft pick.

Basically, a rim protecting center is a luxury... even when he's the back up. A decent wing defender that can hit a corner three is a lot easier to come by. We certainly could use a player like Lee right now, both for insurance purposes and to utilize his skill set... but when that's the main piece that we get in return (on a bad contract), keeping your disgruntled rim protector is the way to go.

Not sure why Asik doesn't want to accept backing up Dwight. He is perfect and he is what we need....another big man off the bench to protect the rim. Rockets is very thin in the 2nd unit. There is no way they can survive against the elite team. Even putting Casspi at the 4 and Jones at the 4 isn't as effective as you may think...let alone without a true center in the middle.

This is a pretty ignorant comment and I'm Hispanic, but don't see how you can possibly play the race card here.

First off, he is all over the sporting news for not fulfilling his role of playing out his contract. Secondly, tell me any similar instance of a black, Hispanic, or Asian player holding out and throwing a hissy fit about a contract where ESPN treats it differently than they're treating this situation. For example, when Vincent Jackson was holding out with the Chargers, he was being called out for the fact that he should man up and fulfill his contract, but I certainly do not remember the media treating him like he's a "criminal."

Honestly I don't know what I'll do if I have to see Greg Smith at the 5 again...

You really want to do a trade. It is so much fun trading. I give you something. You give me something. Hey, I'll trade you a grain of sand for that diamond of yours.

Royce White. The situation is not exactly the same but it is in a lot of ways to me. Asik just wants to be traded that's clear but at the same time he is refusing to play unless he gets his way just like Royce White. Rockets gave this guy a whole year to act a fool and now he's out the league like he deserves to be. Royce also got disciplined for his acts. I want to see Asik be held accountable for his behavior but I see he is being felt sorry for and babied by some Rockets people.

I disagree. Keeping Asik makes the Rockets stronger. That gives the Rockets a starting caliber player coming off the bench and it also camouflage the power forward position with Howard, TJ, Asik, and Smith in the frontcourt.

But he can still be traded before the trade deadline but he may even be more of a hot trade commodity at the end of the season and easier for Morey to make a trade especially when the actual draft order is made.
