TbC- Good assesment. The unusual thing this year is that 46 wins might NOT make the playoffs!! I hope the Rocks get the #8 seed, but if they wind up 9th in the West, that probably means Lottery Pick #13. Now, if the Bucks can play just a little better......anybody unhappy with 46 wins, the 13th pick and the Bucks pick being #10? ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited December 06, 2000).]
I'll take that Gater. Love to make the playoffs, but adding two young players to the team may not be a bad idea. What if our lotto pick ends up being #1 ? It could happen. ------------------ "There are two players carrying the Rockets right now. Hakeem and Olajuwon." Isiah Thomas
Look, teams like Dallas, Phoenix and the Kings are going to come down to earth pretty soon. 45 wins will easily make the playoffs. ------------------ If I make this shot, the Rockets will win tonight. If I miss, they might still win, but I doubt it. If I make two in a row, Florida's votes will actually count.
Why will Phoenix slow down, they have been playign without Googs and Penny so far they will only get better. As long as Webber keeps producing the Kings won't drop out of the 8 So for me the race is between the Rockets, Dallas and the Nuggets for the final spot in the playoffs and instant elimination... ------------------ In 1993-94 Mugsy Bogues averaged more boards for the season than Mo is this season!!
The Rockets can beat any team in the league, so I would never predict instant elimination. Phoenix has gotten lucky. The Kings started 9-1 last year, and finished with the eighth seed. ------------------ If I make this shot, the Rockets will win tonight. If I miss, they might still win, but I doubt it. If I make two in a row, Florida's votes will actually count.
I think Minnesota is the weak link in this playoff run. Kevin Garnett is an awesome player, and it blows me away how good he is at any position he tackles, unfortunately however with the chemistry of a team that has its front office in limbo and a lack of any draft picks in the next year, Kevin's salary is quite the burden. Minnesota will not be in the playoffs. That leaves Denver and Houston fighting for that 8th spot. If the Rockets can just continue on the path their on as of right now, the Nuggets will most definately fail to be clutch in the games they need to win when the only go to guy is Antonio McDyess and Nick Van Exel (as streaky as he is). The Rockets however have Cuttino Mobley, Steve Francis, and Shandon, not including the potential of Mo, Kenny, and Hakeem on a mission, that all can shine when the motive is there. bottom line: Houston 8th seed in the Western Conference. next year....sky is the limit ------------------ -jbond77
Oh ya yea, you forgot Denver has this 3pt shooting 7'o footer by the name of Lafrentz who is scoring more points then any of our big men. They also have James Posey,Voshon Leanord, and Tariq Abdul Wahad. You can't say Denver's a 2 man show. ------------------ President of the Pete Chilcutt Fan Club.
The Rockets are 5-1 against the East and play a total of 30 games, which means they're on pace to go 25-5 against the East. Of the 6 games played so far against the East, 3 were at home and 3 on the road. Also, 4 of the 6 teams are currently in the top 8 in the East. On the other hand, they are 5-7 against the West and play a total for 52 games, which means they are on pace to go 22-30 against the West. 7 home, 5 away. 9 in the top 8. That amounts to a 47-35 record. Based on winning percentage alone, they are on pace for a 46-36 record. I can definately see the Rockets going 22-30 against the West. I'm not sure about 25-5 against the East, but I wouldn't be surprised. An interesting note, only Vancouver, Golden State and the Clippers among W.C. teams have a worse record against the West. I see the Rockets, Nuggets, and TWolves in a season long battle for the 8th playoff spot. A quirck in the schedule has the Rocks in Minnesota for the season ender. What a dilema - win and you got to the playoffs, lose and you go to the Lottery! ------------------ GATER
TB3 How many years in a row would you like to goto the lottery? How many Top 15 picks do you need? Screw the Lottery Playoffs Rocket River ------------------
As a good friend pointed out, the Rockets are also on pace to play 46 home games We're 7-3 at home, 3-5 on the road. A good test will be this road trip. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Amen to that, Rocket River. I could never root for this team to lose. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve immortality by not dying. - Woody Allen
