Why do people think Rondo and Harden can't play together?

The thing is though is that Rondo is a 100 times better floor general than Lin. Rondo to me is pretty much the black version of Bob Cousy.

So if Rajon Rondo would be Jason Kidd, what would James Harden be? Kerry Kittles?

Honestly Kerry Kittles would have had a much better NBA career than what it turned out to be if it weren't for his career threatening injury. Kittles did a lot more than just be a spot up shooter in his rookie year with the Nets.

And Dwight Howard would be Todd MacCullough, I assume?

That is not what is happening here.

If you are looking for hidden agenda, I think there are 2.

    1. Lin fans being insecure
    2. Harden fans worried about his stats

I think a lot of the no-Rondo types just don't think he would work well here if all he is going to do is wait for the corner 3 because that is apparently what the coaching staff wants our "point" guards to do when Harden is on the floor.

Also - our history with point guards is pretty crappy...Lowry, Goran, and Lin are all (by objective standards) "pretty good" point guards. What do they have in common? They are all no longer on the team (almost). For whatever reason, McHale (or Morey) just don't have good track records managing point guard assets.

I think Rondo and Harden would be a great combo, less "HERO BALL" for Harden.

why can't the staff just let lin play pg for just a little bit a game before bringing in another PG? i mean, just for 5 minutes?

The same reasons they think Lin and Harden can't play together.

If not Rondo, then another 'pass first' type of point guard. Its supremely aggravating to watch games and notice that not 1 player out there can pass the ball at an NBA level. Not Bev, Not Harden, Not Garcia, Not Lin ... MAYBE AB, but he's so far down the bench that he's often not in the mix during crunch time anyways.

A floor general, a facilitator. Someone to hit Dwight in his sweet spot, someone who will stop bounce passing in traffic to bigs. A guy who can make Hardens job easier. Easy buckets. Wide open shots. Gets guys in position. Thats what this team lacks IMO. ROX score in bunches no doubt, but when it comes time to grind it out in the playoffs the current brand of basketball will not win.

For what its worth, I thought Harden played exceptionally well off the ball in OKC with Westbrook and Durant dominating the ball so much. I've always felt that here he was branded a ball dominant player by default since nobody else was taking that role, of because too many players would just defer to the alpha dog. Let him run around, behind screens, double screens, back door. Run his defender ragged, thats what an elite SG should be doing.
