Not really true. The momentum was already shifting before the injury

FWIW, I don't necessarily attribute the shift that happened starting in Game 2 to Lin vs. Bev. I'd like to think the team got their heads in the game, collectively... Lin was far from the only person who looked lost out there in Game 1. I think that disaster was a wakeup call for all of those guys, if nothing else.

And when Lin got hurt in game 2, westbrook scored 18 points in the 2nd half against Bev. Then Bev proceeded to put up mediocre numbers for the rest of the series against backups while Lin tried coming back from an injury....
Just as a reminder, Beverly shot 43% grabbed 5.5 boards, had a whopping 2.8 assists and 11.8 points in 33 minutes per game..
BTW - turn around, didn't we LOSE the series???

Bev "legendary defense" reputation started in the playoffs because he clumsily ran into an all nba PG who was obviously calling a time out. A scrub PG who changed the outcome of the NBA. It was going to be OKC vs Miami in the finals with the Thunder standing a good chance at winning it all last year.

Then after Westbrook was hurt, 2 backup PGs who rarely play because Westbrook was always healthy and played heavy minutes, split PG minutes and dropped 29 ppg on Bev on very good FG% of roughly 46ish FG% which was a much better FG% than our superstar Harden shot in the playoffs. And one of those backup PG was a 39 year-old with 1 foot in retirement.

    Game 4
    Beverly played 37 minutes
    Reggie Jackson, 18 points, 7-18, 39 FG%
    Derrick Fisher, 12, points, 4-7, 57 FG%
    PGs 30 points, 44% FG

    Game 5
    Beverly played 39 minutes
    Jackson, 20 points, 7-15, 47 FG%
    Fisher, 8 points, 2-6, 33.3 FG%
    PGs 28 points, 42.8 FG%

    Games 6
    Jackson, 17 points, 7-15, 46.6 FG%
    Fisher, 11 points, 4-6, 66.66 FG%
    PGs, 28 points 52.3 FG%

So Jackson/Fisher split PG minutes while Bev played heavy minutes and those 2 with Bev defending them scored 29 ppg.

The Legendary D of Bev lmao

He was giving Westbrook's before the injury. Selective memory:rolleyes:

This is a stupid analysis. It infers nothing.

So was Bev guarding both Fisher and Jackson when they were on the court together in small ball line up?

Did Bev play every minute against Jackson and every minute against Fisher?

I think you and all defenders of "Bev's legendary D" have selective memory.

2 backup PGs who rarely plays drop 29 ppg on the legendary defender. 2 backup PGs who do not even play because Westbrook was always healthy and played Harden-esque min. One backup PG who was 39 years old.

And games 1-3 Westbrook was his usual all nba self dominating.

    19pts/10ast game 1
29pts/in game 2 where he got hurt

Yeah Bev was giving Westbrook the business lmao.

Do you even try to comprehend how dumb this comment is that a scrub like Bev who gets burned by 2 backup PG who rarely plays is giving an all nba the business when he avg 24 ppg in the 2 games he played.

Bev played heavy minutes. As high as 39 minutes in game 5.

The 2 backup PGs split PG minutes and often had Bev guard them.

In any case there is no evidence to support the "legendary D" reputation some give Bev.

Lets look at this short season. There are some games Bev missed due to injury. There are some games he did not play starter minutes. I do not include these games in my list. In the few games (because the season is so young) where Bev starts and plays heavy minutes he has been destroyed by so many PGs and on offense Bev is a 11ish Per.

    12/15 against the Kings
    Bev 31 minutes
    Isiah Thomas scored 19 points on 7/12, 58 FG%

    12/4 against the Suns
    Bev 42 minutes
    Bledsoe/Dragic scored 39 points on 13/25, 52 FG%

    12/2 against the Jazz
    Bev 38 minutes
    Burke/Burks scored 42 points on 19/29, 65.5 FG%

    11/30 against the Spurs
    Bev37 minutes
    Parker scored 27 points on 13/27, 48.1 FG%

    11/20 against the Mavs
    Bev 37 min
    Calderon/Larkin scored 21 points on 7/13, 53.8 FG%

    11/16 against the Nuggets
    Bev 27 minutes
    Lawson 28 points on 11/19, 57.8 FG%

    11/13 against the Sixers
    Bev 42 minutes
    Andersen 36 points on 12-16, 75 FG%
    Wroten 18 points, 10 reb, 11 asts

Who did the incredible Bev stop?

The incredible Patrick Beverly and his unstoppable defense.

There were games Bev's D was ineffective and he did not play heavy min (over 25 minutes or so) and he was getting abused but Lin came in and saved Bev. I did not include those games.

As long as Lin is on the team, Beverley has carte blanche to stink up the joint all year and not get called out on it.

Beverley should be praying every night that Lin won't get traded.

I'm not saying he isn't capable but with the talent on this team, what shows that he coaches well? What would a Jeff Van Gundy do with this roster?

I wish Clutch would ban the term LOF and other similar terms it just perpetuates name calling and childish behaviour on these boards
