Really depends on his future play and what kind of offers he gets. He's an RFA, so no need to bid against yourself.
Fair point, but I disagree We dont need him to facilitate because Harden's our primary ball handler/playmaker with the ball in his hands 95% of the time. Bev needs to be Mario Chamber-like in just hitting open shots, spacing the floor. Also being able to hit that floater in the lane would help. His role needs to be strictly shutting down the Paul's, Westbrook's, & Curry's of the league. Aslong as he's able to atleast slow them down and get in their heads, we have a shot of makin it out the west. This is why he's so valuable to this team
I'm not sure what Beverley's role on the team has to do with a discussion of his fair market value. On the open market, I just don't see him commanding a large salary with the Rockets or anywhere else due to how specialized his skill set is.
I honestly can't tell you his fair market value should be. But I know his value on this team should be VERY high.
No way. Tony Allen is much better. If Beverley can get 4-6 M I'd be really happy for him. He deserves a nice paycheck after his trials and tribulations in Russia. If I were a GM, however, I would give him no more than 2.5M a year.
Well, he can't facilitate is different from we don't need him to facilitate though. If he has the capability, he could step up when needed, and we will have much more flexibility. But we have seen lots of times that when Lin or Parsons is down, and when he is needed to facilitate as James sit, larking of the capability really hurting the team though. I think Beverley is one sided player like AB, so he might get something similar to AB got. However, Beverley has a smaller market than AB without facilitation skills, so Rocket don't really need to pay him too much if he don't have that market demand.
If that's the roll we want our pg to play, why pay anything more than just a rookie contract? Anyone in the NBA can play solid defense if they spent all their energy there and not worry about offense. A pg with little to no pg skills is not worth very much in the open market. He is undersized too for goodness sake.
