At dinner tonight someone brought up how we talk casually of perhaps invading or bombing these countries if they don't do what we want. This would be completely illegal. Does it bother anyone that the US, the President and cabinet ministers talk so openly about such illegality?

Now Bush at least could make a weak, yet arguable, and I believe losing legality claim for our Iraq invasion, but there is no case I can think of for these other proposed actions. We might not like it but building wmd or allowing fleeing Iraqis to enter is no grounds for legally invading another country.

Has the US completely given up on legality and just advocating doing what it wants when it wants?

Regardless of the legality of such action I sure as hell wouldn't support an invasion (Perhaps, an operative strike.) of any of the aforementioned countries. Rebuilding Iraq should be priority number one, imo.

I'm not for anymore wars unless Glynch personally is in a military uniform (yes for the U.S.) I'm sure your anti-US stories would make good fire side chat with our troops.

If he just want to invade for the sake of it,why don' he just say so?Half(oops!I mean the whole) planet thinks so anyway...

Ok Glynch...are you just writing stuff because you like to see the words on the screen? Was your dinner just a casual talk about things that won't happen? Does it bother you and your friends about the legality of what North Korea is doing? Did yall happen to talk about how legally they were acting? Did yall happen to talk about how legally every other country in the world acts or did you just feel like only talking about how legally America acts? How do you feel about the lies that persist in the Arab world about a Jewish conspiracy? Do you talk about how wrong the Arab hatred for Jews is or do you just ignore that?

Anyhow...aren't there a lot of other countries that don't do what we want? Do we bomb them? Did we go and bomb Switzerland for cooperating with the Nazis? Did we go in and invade Brazil for allowing Nazis in? Did we bomb France for not cooperating? How about Russia? Do we bomb Japan when we have trade wars with them?

You may have an argument with Iran, but North Korea very blatantly violated a number of "legally" binding treaties. What do you think should be the penalty for violating treaties you sign?

I'm thinking we should bomb glynch's casual dinner party.

No wait, wouldn't that be illegal?

Glynch: Ask yourself when there was ever a legal war? Go to the back of the room.

There are many exaggerated statesments made about Israel, but there are legitimate arguements to some of the discrepancies. Is it fair for Israel to have Nuclear weapons, Chemical, and possibly bioweapons, but no other country in the region is allowed? I understand the reasoning to a point, but if I lived in the Middle East I think I would like my country to have its own deterrents. Israel has mishandled the Palestinian situation from day one. The frequent change in the leadership creates constant shifts in policy. The current situation of suicide bombings followed by immediate retaliation often which is grossly disporportional to the actual event, is the unending fuel for the bitter hatred in the region. The current policy of Israel is tough, but will never bring any sort of peace. Would the Arab hatred be as bad if dead Palestinians weren't plastered on the news all the time. Certainly Israel should retaliate, but to often its a public relations nightmare, someone must take the high road.

I think N Korea will get what they deserve in due time. How long do you let them keep threatening you, until you actually do something. Do you wait till they bomb Japan, S Korea or other US friendly countries and then act like you never saw it coming. This is one that the UN should be stepping in an actually do something. What slogan do the anti war people use if we do bomb N Korea, "No Blood for Rice" (please accept my apologies if this offends anyone, not sure what N Korea exports if anything)

They don't have any to spare...

As the world leader on breaking treaties, I guess we should bomb ourselves.

It's no worse than what we do in the States.

Take a look at this current administration wiping its ass with the Constitution.

North Korea is complex. There is a cease-fire in place between the UN and the North Koreans, but no peace treaty at all. Our troops are in N. Korea under the aegis of the UN, right? So if we act unilaterally, I think it would technically be an even bigger deal than Iraq was. At least there some might argue that we had cover from the '91 aftermath of resolutions. I don't think that would apply here, unless they fired first.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :) ;)
