Picking up Rondo is at the least idiotic...

    Doesn't fit this team.
Don't know who he'll be coming off injury.
    Doesn't meet any team need.
    Doesn't play good Defense.
Not a center or big man.
    Can't shoot at all.

Why do we want him...no sense what so ever.

Fortunatly Morey is smarter then this.

People forget Rondo has a ring.

    Rajon Rondo +
    -Elite Passer/Playmaker
    -Above average defender
    -Rebounds
    -Good around the rim
    -Playoff Expirence

Rondo may not be able to shoot, but he will be able to get the ball to someone who can. If you can get rondo for asik+Lin you have to do it.

So Rondo can't shoot. Neither can Beverly. He is a clear upgrade in every other way.

Obviously. But he is a legit 3rd star if healthy. Worth it.

    Yup, lets do it..
    --------------------------------------
    1st: TT experiment -> Failed.
    2nd: Bev experiment -> Failed.
3rd: Rondo experiment -> (To be continue..)
WARNING: This will be a high dose of Rondo drug injecting directly at CF's fans and there is no turning back..

Yeah, what a failure of an undrafted player that hasn't even played a full season yet.

    1. I can't see the Sixers really wanting Asik for themselves. They're going to the lottery. Asik would make them better than Hawes and we know they're trying to get worse.

    2. I really think Philly wants to trade Hawes out for a young player to develop or a pick.

With that in mind, if Charlotte is really interested in winning than running Asik/Lin to Charlotte for Ben Gordon's expiring deal, a draft pick, and MKG would make a lot of sense, with MKG going to Philly (young player) while Philly sends out Hawes to us. Throw Philly DMo along with MKG and we have enough salary to take back Evan Turner as well.

    To Charlotte: Asik/Lin
    To Philly: MKG/DMo
To Houston: Gordon, Hawes, Turner, Memphis first rounder, and rights to swap first rounders with Charlotte

This deal would give us 3 useful players, all expiring deals, with picks, and have us right at the luxury tax threshhold.

We would then have Brewer/Smith/TJones/Casspi/Covington 's salaries to possibly combine in some form or fashion for possibly another pick and an expiring deal to add to the pile.

So send Jones/Smith/Brewer to Cleveland for Earl Clark/Jeff Adrien/Ronnie Price and another pick from Cleveland.

That would leave you with: Gordon/Hawes/Turner/Clark/Adrien/Price all expiring deals and 2-3 picks plus our own.

That's 32.9 million in expiring contracts which along with Casspi and Covington is $34.5 million in contracts, almost the exact amount needed to send out for Melo and Amare. A deal the Knicks could not possibly say no to if Melo informed them he was leaving at the deadline and tried to force a trade to the Knicks.

I'm not convinced about Hawes. Hawes gives production every other year. Rather wait to sign a player like Jason Smith for the vet min to 3M in free agency than trade for Hawes.

What does Miami have to offer outside their big 3?

Perhaps something where we send Asik and get Hawes + Lee and an asset for taking Lee from Boston. Philly would send expirings to Boston.

I never paid any attention to Hawes before. But watching his videos on YouTube... I can't help but think he's be PERFECT next to Dwight. He can fill in at 5 when Dwight sits and when Dwight is there he can play loose, has sufficient range to be a threat out to 3. Just trying to think about how opposing teams would guard a team with Dwight inside, Harden doing his thing, Parsons and [insert preferred PG/whoever's hot that night here], with Hawes a threat from anywhere on the floor. Sounds like a nightmare to defend against. He seems to be a pretty good passer too, and can pnr too.

I would be very happy getting Hawes and having him start at 4. Jones would still get plenty of minutes, I think, and it makes DMo and Smith completely expendable.

He's in a contract year (as rental), so he'd give us production.

Atlanta wouldn't get involved unless they got Asik in return so they could move Horford to the 4.
