What should Morey have done to make Asik happy? Keep running us into the ground with TT?

 

The irony between your post and your sig is going to form a black hole so large it will swallow the entire internet. It's amazing how someone can be so completely misinformed and wrong in an indecipherable paragraph less than 500 words long.

 

Woah, calm down. The trade hasn't happened yet. The reason we are trying to get rid of Omer after one year is because we upgraded (See Howard, Dwight). And instead of trying to make it work, Omer asked for a trade the very same day we signed Dwight. Omer was always a backup plan. He just outplayed everyone's expectations. Now, he justifiably wants starter minutes and Morey is trying to give him that. Everything Morey has done since two offseasons ago has made our team significantly better. That's why so many of us are willing to trust his decision making.

And I haven't seen any hate for the contracts. I think everyone is in agreement that the contracts were pretty clever and by trading them now Morey is trying to have his cake and eat it too.

Oh and Omer most definitely could NOT have been a "great defensive tandem" with Dwight. We saw that experiment, it didn't work.

 

Undersized could be defined by height and also undersized body. Terrence jones is undersized 6'9 in height for pf. Motiejunas skinny build is undersize in body size even though he's 7 feet tall.

 

Rondo has as much long range threat as Asik. Opposing teams practically beg him to shoot from the 3pt line, spacing would be a huge concern especially since we already lack a prolific shooter at PF.

That's sad because:

1) Memphis loses their entire starting front court. Dwight Howard would abuse Ed Davis in the post. Ed weighs less than Patrick Patterson.

2) Sure Morey is willing to trade both Lin and Asik, but I doubt one team will be willing to trade for BOTH of them. Philly would not pay them over $30 million. IF they have a chance of ending up on the same team then it will be a team like the Lakers or the Bulls who are trying to avoid paying the LT and using that money elsewhere (paying Lin and Asik).

3) Zach would be great and all, but he is on the decline. He turns over the ball too much. I would probably do the trade because I don't care about advanced stats, but I'm not sure Morey would.

 

Karl Malone was 6'9", 250. Otis Thorpe was 6'9", 225. Charles Oakley was 6'8", 245. Jones is 6'9", listed 251.

This. Charles Barkley was 6'5. Carlos Boozer is 6'8.

I know people now think of guys like Duncan, Garnett and Nowitski as the prototypical power forwards, but those guys are exceptionally long.

 

And that's not including those insane T-Jones measurements on standing reach, wingspan, etc that I remember seeing about a year ago.

 

I think it's funny how ClutchFans complains every game about Harden's iso's, McHale's playbook (or lack of one), and turnovers but they don't want Rondo. Rondo would fix all of that if Harden is willing to play off the ball more and catch and shoot more (which would prolong his career).

The thing with Rondo is you need a player like Ray Allen or JJ Reddick on the court when he's on the floor to make the offense effective. Someone who can catch and shoot, and is constantly running around the three point line/fighting through off-ball screens to get open looks (who Rondo will find 99% of the time). This allows him to break down the defense and get inside much easier when the opponent has so much on the court to worry about (giving up a wide open three). They cheat off of Rondo and it's two points because he has no trouble getting to the rim and finishing, even against the trees.

 

Bulls waived Mike James and now they only have 13 players on the roster. I could see the following trade...

Bulls Trade : Deng and 1st Round pick (I believe they have Charlotte's pick)
Bulls Get: Thad Young and Evan Turner

76ers Trade: Thad Young and Evan Turner
76ers Get: Asik

Rockets Trade: Asik and D-Mo
Rockets Get: Deng and 1st Round Pick

Bulls continue get valuable players to build around Rose.

76ers will get Asik can probably trade him before the deadline for a lot.

Rockets get a stretch 4 and a expiring contract who also can get traded. Plus a 1st round pick.

 

I think Brooks can be the Ray Allen for us with Rondo guarding SGs when we go small. Players fight harder to get open if they know they have a PG who will find them.

Agree with this. The rockets are setup to only have Harden and Howard on deals stretching beyond 2015. Bev and Parsons have tiny cap holds that year, which means you can sign a 3rd star and then resign Bev and Parsons to whatever figure you like. Your bench would be weak, but then you've got MLEs over the next few years to fix that.
