I was wondering if we need a passing point guard so bad we should rather go ahead and get a Rook like Kirk Hinrick from kansas he is a good passer and could be like steve nash. We could get a late first round pick and get him or just hope he falls into the 2nd round (not likely). Well I think this is going to happen in next year's campain. We are going to get some key trades and get a first round pick back. We problably trade Mobley, Eddie or the teams in that need a center, Kelvin Cato. And we are going to draft a back up or starting PG like Kirk Hinrich. I like the team now but we sure need some passing in our offence.
do yall think we going to get kirk hinrich or what i really like him he could be a spark of the bench. Better than Moochie or they move steve to 2 guard we have him start.
i dont think that we want anymore rookies. there is no more time to rebuild, wait to mature, or tutor. we must make the playoffs next year, and only a vets leaderhsip will get us there.
smoothie :- Wont it take time even for Vets to adapt int a new Team, also isnt it expected that the Game plan of the Rockets is going to under go a complete change. If so then everone will be starting Training Camp on page ONE! Even Brand, Casell, Francis and Yao Ming.
I think a vet could adapt to our "stand around and watch Francis dribble the ball" offense faster than rookies. Rookies tend to want to actually touch the ball and take shots. Vets really enjoy standing around and watching their athletic floor leader drive to the basket. j
Looked up at his stats and he seems to be more of a shoot first PG(17ppg and 3.5APG!!).Plus he's being compared to Sam Cassel, who I recall isn't what u can call real passer. Anyways I thought we were looking for a tall PG to help Steve on the D.Now if u want a combo-guard to come off the bench maybe u should look up for a guy like Reece Gaines. Maybe in sted of going after a PG we should be looking for a defensive minded SG to come off the bench and give SF some rest... ALA
thats a good point yetti. however, a rookie won't get on another players a$$ for being lazy or losing focus and a rookie can't be a leader. what a rookie will probobly do: lose focus themselves. need to be tutored. and of course, MAKE ROOKIE MISTAKES! thats all ok, but we cant afford any of that next year.
Your right he is a pass first assists later but he is a shooting threat and if we so despretly need a good PG we should pick up Hinrich but if we cant get that pic we should get Dantay Jones from Duke he will fall in the 2nd round.
KH does have many of the qualities a backcourt partner for Stevie should have; he's an excellent passer, a great amd tenacious defender who can take on quicker pgs or taller big guards, can shoot it from the outside, he's a complete leader, clutch, smart, and, most importantly, he comes from the best passing/team oriented offense in the country. He already understand more about breaks, secondary breaks, and movement in the halfcourt than anyone on our team right now...I'm actually impressed with this suggestion, and had never thought of it myself. Now...what would it take to get the, what, 10th-14th pick? Yeah, I know there's the Not Another Rookie argument, but think of this: 1) He's already more polished and 'vet' like than many vets available. 2) Cuttino is already what, 28? In 4 or 5 years, when Yao and Eddie will be getting into their prime, Cuttino will be on the way out...Hell, Steve will be around 31 himself by that time.
I would welcome bringing in Kirk Hinrich. I think he would fit well as the PG of the Rockets. Hinrich is a great passer and understand the game better than most rookies. HAving him play like Steve Nash would be great, just tell him to run around and pass to the open man.
They have the 42nd only this year unless they make a trade to get another one. The Grizzlies get our 1st round pick this year(Steve Francis deal).
This guy is a 1st round pick (with a good chance of being a lottory pick since GSW, Seattle, etc all need a PG) . We have ZERO chance of getting him in the 2nd round. Plus NO ONE will trade us a lottory pick for someone like Cato. Forget it.
Some team like Milwakke will need a Center and we could trade Cato for first round pic and maybe throw in mooch.
True. Rox would have to take back about 10 mil in salary, too. That's the part that hurts, of course. That's the part where you look at matching pieces accepting someone elses rotten contracts and/or players.
