most of the trade proposal here are unrealistic and don't make sense. example of something what would be realistic and makes sense: Rockets out: Omer Asik Rockets in: Marvin Williams, 2014 1st round GSW pick Jazz out: Marvin Williams, Brandon Rush, 2014 1st round GSW pick Jazz in: Thad Young, Evan Turner Sixers out: Thad Young, Evan Turner Sixers in: Omer Asik, Brandon Rush
That's interesting. But Rush should be coming here. We need the extra expiring salary for trade flexibility at the deadline. And the GSW pick isn't enough. Perhaps throw in DMo, take back Jefferson instead of Williams and get a couple picks out of the deal.
Why would Philly ship off both Young and Turner but keep Hawes and bring in Asik...??? And why wouldn't Morey just take Young or Turner instead of Marvin Williams...??? And why would Morey want GSW's first round pick when he can get New Orleans first round pick from Philly...??? This trade sounds good to me if you just take Utah out of it...
They can still trade Hawes and he is gone after this season anyway. Turner is a scrub and Young's contract is too long for Morey. Williams is an expiring, I guess you could argue Hawes would be more valuable, but he is the most valuable expiring on Utah. Philly won't trade New Orleans pick for Asik, not sure where you heard that.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lekpbeb 3 team trade Toronto, Houston, Philadelphia (Picks will be involved not sure what or where but heres the trade) Hou in- Amir Johnson, Spencer Hawes Hou out- Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin Toronto in- Jeremy Lin, D Mo Toronto out- Kyle Lowry, Amir Johnson Phily in- Omer Asik, Kyle Lowry Phily out- Amir Johnson, Kyle Lowry Why Houston does this? Getting Spencer Hawes expiring contract. he WILL NOT play for Houston beyond this season unless he accepts some sort of F Garcia deal. Amir Johnson WILL NOT play in Houston in his second year deal, he will be traded for Picks near draft night. Why Toronto does it? Gets rid of Kyle Lowry and gives them Jlin for marketing purposes Why Phily does it? Phily gets big man Omer Asik! Noel is injured and they dont have a serviceable center we could throw in G. Smith too if needed to thank the GM.
Rockets trade- Asik, Dmo, 2014 1st or NY 2nd rd pick Get- Hawes, Turner Celtics trade- Humphris, Brooks, Bos 1st rd pick (top-10 protected), Less favorable 1st pick from BLK-ATL swap Get- Asik Sixers trade- Turner, Hawes Get- Humphris (exp.), Brooks, Dmo, Hou 2014 1st, 2014 Bos 1st rd pick, Less fav pick from swap Why? Houston If we're in win-now mode, that 1st rd pick won't be of much value. Hinkie may opt for that NY 2nd round pick b/c high 2nd rd picks are more valuable than very late 1st rd picks. Trading for Hawes and Turner will definitely beef up our squad this year. Boston If the Celtics are trying to make the playoffs, their picks combined won't likely field them any player better than Asik. Asik gives them a legit interior defender that will help them make the playoffs this year. They also gain some cap space. Philly If they're super tanking for a top prospect, making this move will make a lot of sense. They get 3 more picks in this draft and prospects to evaluate in Dmo and Brooks in exchange for Turner and Hawes, whom they were likely not going to re-sign. Humphris will serve only as an expiring contract. Bev/Lin/Brooks Harden/Garcia Parsons/Turner Jones/Casspi Howard/Hawes/Smith
I think if we trade just with the Sixers it will likely be for Young and Hawes for Asik. Hawes being the payoff for having to take on Young's contract. Young will be flipped either again this season or next.
I don't see us trading with the sixers. I can't see hinkie moving hawes + something else solely for Asik. Sixers should hold on to them and could probably get way more value closer to deadline.
If Asik is as valuable as everyone makes him out to be _ he's worth Philly coming off that New Orleans 1st round pick. Defensively Asik can dominate in the east (like he did in the west). His competition would be limited. And I believe Philly has multiple picks in next year's draft so they can afford to trade that one. Hawes is an unproven soon to be unrestricted free agent so he's only a rental and Philly won't be able to get much in return for him in a trade. Asik and D-Mo for Hawes, Wroten, and New Orleans 1st round pick. Hawes can be used to backup both the Center and PF position and Wroten can back up the 1-3 spots...
Rockets send Asik to Cleveland. Cleveland sends Waiters to the Knicks, Varejao here, and Anthony Bennett to the 76ers. Knicks send Shumpert to Houston, Felton to Philly. Philly sends Evan Turner to Cleveland. Cleveland sends Sacramento's pick to Philly.
I was skeptical starting this season, but I think Houston can get Rondo out of Boston now. Rondo is going to start playing in a month. What if he loses a step and Boston makes it to the playoffs in the weak east? That's a total failure in this years rebuild. Since we can't give a star player back to Boston, we have to take on at least one of its bad contracts. Lin/Asik/Dmo for Rondo/Wallace might get Ainge to change his mind. It's a huge risk for Houston though. I'm on the fence on whether if this is a good idea or not.
