And what would be your reasoning if so? Likewise, how many of you guys possess that natural inclination to take a female sports analyst less seriously when she works on a bigger stage such as ESPN?

    hehe you said "higher"

As a desktop support manager, I would be more incline to hire a man simply because of the heavy lifting involved.

Depends on whether she lists "stress relief" as one of her skills on the resume.

If their resumes were identical and it wasn't a physical labour job, it's a toss up.

So many variables in play. For example, we were looking to hire a new warehouse worker and had a few girls apply. Since we work with industrial equipment, we strongly prefer a male.

But if it were for a receptionist, we would most likely NOT hire a male. Its just the way it works sometimes.

Company I run deals with alot of lifting. Im not saying women can't do it- ive hired a girl before- but soon after the other workers complain because she is too weak.

this question kind of sucks because there is no context

Would I rather hire a man over a woman relating to warehouse work? Yes

Would I rather hire a man over a woman relating to a secretary position? Hell No

I would like to hire someone my team can joke around and not feel threatened by, someone well qualified but doesn't demand a ludicrous salary, someone who doesn't need months of government mandated paid vacation, and should the day comes that we need to lay off this person, this someone won't sue or pressure us for a bigger severance package on the grounds of alleged racism.

So I guess what I'm saying is I would probably hire a middle aged first generation Asian guy over anyone else.

It depends on the job of course. Im always about hiring the right person for the job. If the job is technical and labor intensive, I would steer towards men. If it requires empathy and connection, Id steer towards women.
If I ever get a female when calling tech support, I'll give her a minute to convince me she knows what shes doing. After that, I hang up. Female and foreign tech support are notoriously terrible.

If all things considered even, my preference is a man. Pregnancy and PMS can cause women to not be able to work while men don't have these excuses. Imagine a woman having 5 kids during her time of employment with you. That is a minimum of 3 months a year you would pay her for not working due to maternal leave.

In addition women has by nature, stronger parenting instincts and if a parent is required to stay home with the kids for whatever reason, generally speaking, the woman is most likely to take on most of this duties.

My preference is not the ability to do the job but rather whom can I depend more to be spending more time at work to help me make more money.

Why? If you know of 2 people who has identical skillets and you know the other person has a history of missing work, who would you hire? If I own a business, my main goal is to make money with the least overhead. Anybody who makes an investment has to weigh risk to rewards. This is no different.
