Either start Lin, or bring in a new starting PG, Bev ain't cuttin' it.

Clearly you need meds if you think Bev with his 11.2 Per is a NBA starting PG. This board ripped Jeremy last season for having an avg 15 Per. Now we want to praise the worst starting PG in the NBA, Bev.

Lin's 18.7 Per which would be over 20 per if he wasn't benched so much is clearly much better.

He is right though that I can't see one other team in the NBA where Bev would start.

Bev is the worst healthy starting PG in the whole NBA with his 11.2 Per.

He is lucky to even be in the NBA. Many PGs in the D-leagues can play lock-down D but can't even make it to the bigs because they lack the other skills PGs are supposed to have. Bev lacks so many skills it's not even funny.

Even during the time Harden was out with his foot injury, Bev couldn't get asts.

Do you really have to go there? You have no idea what another NBA team would do, you're merely speculating.

Secondly, who hates Lin? Why must you cast such an aspersion on the Rocket's organization? Isn't there other possibilities other than the hatred that you accuse them of, like maybe Mchale simply lacks faith in Lin? It doesn't have to be about hate, and by making such an accusation, you're stating a mere speculation as fact. That lacks dignity in my opinion.

Further, Lin's not the only one to be the recipient of what can come across as an odd coaching decision. Let's get the facts straight:

Willie Green, apparently a 3rd stringer, averaging 5.1 ppg and having a PER of 4.67 is starting over Jamal Crawford who averages 16 ppg and has a PER of 16.64. And Bear in mind... Willie Green's stats make Beverly look like a superstar.

Not only this, but at least Lin gets to start when either Harden or Beverly is out. When Redick is out, Crawford isn't even chosen to start, but instead Doc River's has Willie Green, a 3rd stringer as far as I can tell, starting in his place.

You could easily make the argument that Crawford has it worse than Lin, at least in terms of him not starting when one could easily argue he should.

I'm not arguing Bev is better or not but Lin skill set does not mesh with starters with Harden and Lin being primary ball handlers Lin should defer to Harden. Bev does defer and plays 3 and D, he's not asked to be a facilitator with that group nor would Lin so why sacrifice Lins ability to score when starters are on court.

It all depends on what the coach does. Rockets are very disappointing

Ok, so the Rockets signed Lin to a $25M contract yet they hate him? Sure, why not. If they hate Lin so much then why are they playing him at all? It would be pretty easy to play AB over the guy that they hate.

Did the OKC Thunder hate James Harden because they started Thabo Sefolosha over him? Did San Antonio have an unnatural hatred for Manu Ginobli because they started a 35 year old Michael Finley over him?

Actually, harden would probably score more and win the scoring title for the season if Lin was the primary ball handler. Lin will find harden when he's open and harden is not a bad shooter when he's open. It's probably better than ISo harden when a defender can snap at his forearms or having hin twist an ankle or something, which has happened this year so far.

Why are people making this out to be Lin v. Bev?

I like Lin off the bench as sixth man. And, if Bev continues to shoot poorly...start Brooks; either trade Bev or use him as a spot defensive stopper off the bench.

You don't have to be a genius to know no one would start a PG with a 11.2 Per who plays heavy minutes with a pathetic 39% FG and 2.3 APG. Who can only play D against some PGs but get light up against others.

The Bev fan club is basically made up of J-Lin haters. If Lin wasn't here it would be universally acknowledge Bev is a scrub who might be good for a defensive stop here and there.

Also all those games Bev gets light up I do not see people saying how bad his D is but the games he plays well on D (and nothing else) all we hear is how great he is because of his D. We can find guys in the D-league who can do what Bev can do which is why no NBA team would start a Defensive specialist with a 11.2 Per

Beverly isn't a scoring pg kid !! He's a defensive rebounding point guard. Did you not watch him shut down Curry and lillard these past games ?

We can debate the Beverley vs. Lin stuff till the cows come home (and we do). But please, for the sake of the children, stop the Lin and Harden comparisons. If you think Lin is every bit as good of a basketball player as Harden but is being held back because of race/conspiracy/hatred/aliens/illuminatti, please stop reading now.

For the folks that are remaining. I was originally for the move of Lin to the bench, and based on the results, it seemed to be working. However there are stretches of games where Patrick just seems to get lost on offense and really becomes a liability. This seems to have happened more since Lin has been injured. Could it be a conditioning issue? Have his minutes increased that significantly?

I love his intensity, rebounding and pestering defense, but if he doesn't find his jumper soon I think they have to at least give Lin a look at starting again. That's assuming Lin starts attacking and playing his brand of ball. I hate seeing tentative Lin.

Willie Green starts some games for the Clippers as some has said but look at his mpg. He avg 16.5 mpg last season and 17.4 mpg this year.

Bev starts and plays regular starting PG min.

This is why the Rockets is warped.

If they wanted to start Bev and play him 15-17 mpg while having Lin com off the bench as the 6-man of the year candidate playing 33 mpg (time Harden or Bev is on the bench) then that is fine.

Have a 11.2 Per PG start and play so much shows how bias the Rockets have become.

all this talk but at the end of the day so far HARDEN has regressed, its a sample size so far but at the end of the season a argument could be made that harden played better in 2012-2013 season with lin vs 2013-2014 with bev.

keep this is mind when you’re saying harden needs the ball, that is true but when is he more efficient and having a STAR type season with bev or lin as the starting PG ? we will see

My example with Willie Green kinda takes the wind out of the sails of what you say regarding no other team starting Bev.

I will admit, though, that it's an interesting question of what some people would be saying if Lin wasn't there, and someone else with Lin's skill set was relegated to backup when you examine the stats of both players. That's different, though, from saying that the Rocket's have unnatural hatred for Jeremy Lin. You simply can't make such an accusation based on how a coach uses his players. To do so is immoral in my opinion.

And, further, if you want to argue Lin starting over Bev, I think it's best to stick to the question of why he should be the starter by focusing on what he brings to the table vs. what Bev brings to the table. This is more productive than making comments about fans in my opinion.

Bev is a poor 3- point shooter. Lin ties the most 3rd made in a game in Rockets history and has been a pretty good 3-point shooter this year.

He was at 50% for most of the year till his benching and injury which again begs the question why an unproven basically a rookie PG in Bev start when he is statically the worst starting PG in the NBA who actually plays starter minutes. Yeah you can have a "starting PG" who plays 10-15 mpg or so that doesn't really mean he is a starter.

Wait, stick to debating the actual topic instead of throwing insults and labels around? What a novel idea

Lin is like an advanced version of George Hill, when he's scoring, he's useful, when he's not, he becomes a giant liability on both sides.

When has Willie Green started? Redick has been the starter since the beginning of the season, not Willie Green.

Yes, I know that Willie Green has gotten less minutes than Bev, but there is a reason for that: He's a 3rd stringer. And isn't that the point? He's a 3rd stringer and he's starting over Crawford who's the backup and who's a much better player.

My points all stand and are valid.

And, also, Lin was averaging about 32 minutes a game prior to his injury. Beverly was averaging more minutes from what I can recall, though. But that doesn't discount that Lin was getting starter minutes.

And I will say, that Beverly scoring so poorly while getting a high volume of minutes only underscores Beverly being a scoring liability. If Lin averaged, say, 35 minutes a game: He'd be scoring even more than he does. Beverly, though, for getting so many minutes, really is a scoring liability. Or at least this can be argued easily.
