Can't dispute the truth. So tell me why exactly does Lin want to stick around? Why isn't he demanding a trade like Asik?

He is a meek dude. But whatever. I just don't want fifteen million dollars sitting on the bench. Better to spend it elsewhere. Harden/Bev/Brooks is an okay guard rotation even if Bev is not starter material.

Ideally trade Lin and Asik for a decent pg and backup C. Move bev to the bench.

There are almost no PGs available who are outright better than Lin is. If there were, they'd pretty much be a top 10 guard.

They don't need to be better than Lin, just have the coach's trust to start and play major minutes, moving Bev to the bench for 26 mins of serious hustle.

    Dragic would be perfect.

I like the Lin and Asik to Suns for Dragic and Okafor. We have two valuable trade pieces lets use them.

Sadly, Lin is not a valuable trade piece with his bloated contract.

That's highly debatable. Also Dragic starts on this team and forces Harden to play off the ball more which will make him more efficient.

If Lin got moved to the bench to appease Harden, then Dragic ain't doing jack.

I'd trade any PG on our roster for Dragic, but I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make if Harden remains the primary playmaker in the starting lineup.

For Lin's sake, Lin needs to get traded. He is treated like crap by Harden and McHale, and the rest of the coaching staff, and no...i'm not a LOF.

He can succeed elsewhere, and Bev can go back to coming from the bench, and the rockets get a legit starting PG.

When you look at the overall game of Beverly and Lin, I do find it weird that Beverly is the starter and Lin isn't.

It does seem to me that Beverly's skill set it is better suited for smaller bursts, something a backup would do. And Lin's game is better suited for longer durations. He scores better. He play makes better. And, frankly, I'm not sure that Beverly's defense is all that much better. Who knows, maybe Lin would be reinstated into the starting lineup since during his absence, I feel that Beverly's game has been exposed to some extent.

All the above said, I want to touch on something that people have said in the past. That is, never has a starter been demoted to backup in this way.

Well, let's look at another weird coaching decision. Doc River's has been starting Willie Green over Jamal Crawford. Green averages 5.1 points per game and has a dismal PER of 4.67, making Beverly look like a superstar. Crawfod averages 16 ppg, and has a PER of 16.64.

With the starting shooting guard out, Redick, you would think that the backup, Crawford, would take his place. But he hasn't. Instead, Green has.

And, bear in mind, when Harden or Beverly is out, Lin starts.

My point is, Lin isn't the only player to have been treated with odd coaching decisions as some people seem to suggest.

On the record, Bev. is going to wear down.
After starting this season, his 3pts shooting is worse than Lin's last year.

Beverly may not be a starting PG material though his D more than makes up for his lack of O especially on this team with Harden at the 2.

Best case scenario would be to trade Lin while his value is still high. Donot worry about the production from the bench, Brooks can handle the job.

I think this thread is a bit excessive, epsecially after Beverley effectively cancelled out one of the top-10 PGs tonight. But the starting PG position would be the first one I'd upgrade nonetheless. I don't think Lin is the solution there, personally, but I do like him a lot as the 6th man. Problem is, you'd probably have to send Lin out in any trade to get a quality starting PG back.
