You guys can't be serious. He has had like 3-4 bad games since he started. Besides, he was going up against freakin Lamarcus Aldridge!! Thanks for making this a knee-jerk thread.
I think TJ should be traded. He's being killed by good SFs every single time. I seriously doubt his individual D will vastly improve in a couple of seasons, so I sell sell high now Morey!!! If our goal is to win a chip then do it now!!! Jones has been good this year, but tonight's game exposed a weakness we have against strong opposing PFs. Seeing as we will likely see a stud PF or two in the playoffs, adding a Varejao or Milsap is something to consider.
exactly so throw in TJ to sweeten the deal while his value is high. his contract is cheap as well so more teams may be willing to make a better deal. do it morey!
We had 14 points off the bench. TJones got in early foul trouble tonight as well, he is young and has much room to improve. Can't really be too hard on the guy at the moment, give him a full year to develop before we make these crazy assumptions on what kind of player he ends up as. If we trade him and he ends up as a 16 pt 10 rb guy for a couple pieces that dont work it will be a waste. If anything let him build his value up more.
whats the point to get millsap for couple yrs to get to 2nd and get rid of him not long after that. rentals like artest have no meaning long term
Why do you think Morey got Artest? Why do you think Indy got David West? In the "long term" Dwight and Harden will be dead and gone. You try to win when you have a chance. You don't waste what's left of Howard's prime waiting for Jones to grow up.
There aren't many other PF's in the league that can play Aldridge well. Jones will be alright. Because of his play this season, you all can at least allow him one bad game here or there. I thought Clutchfans trusted him more than that.
Agreed. Jones shows great potential but Millsap has a long history of being a consistent player, let alone having many years of experience over Jones. The time to win it all is NOW as the window of opportunity tends to be much smaller than most of us fans think.
1 game and after a slow start, LA had his jumper working. The bigger isue was the 16-10 by lopez. Can't allow that guy to be that effective based on cuts, layups and dunks. Even when the rockets put howard on la and went small, lopez got easy baskets.. I also thought the rockets were allowing transitional situations to easy again.
I know we're in win-now mode, but it's guys like T. Jones that make me wish we were in a position to develop young players. I would *really* hate to see him traded or languishing on the bench. Already hate it for DMo.
Sure he got beat on a few plays and pump fakes but who doesn't versus Aldridge? Aldridge is a jump shooter who shoots a lot of fadeaways with superb efficiency. Those kind of shots are not really guardable. He's 21 years old and just recently started getting significant playing time, he'll be fine and will improve no doubt. You don't throw him in any trade just like that. He's been solid overall and will only improve with time so he's a keeper longterm. i don't mind getting Millsap since he's a more proven commodity for the short term while we're going for a championship but Jones should be kept and should get minutes behind Millsap to continue his development and will eventually be our longterm starter at the 4.
Dmo sitting on bench in game where our single other true PF is struggling is beyond r****ded anyway. It has nothing to do with players and everything to do with stubborn coaches.
