Barrels found in Iraq may contain chemical weapons The article said something about the tests done thus far are 98% accurate but the chemicals have been sent for further, more conclusive testing. The location of the find is also suspicious as 14 barrels of the chemicals were found in a weapons storage area with a mobile lab. I guess we will see if this is the first real find or not.
I think that the 11 mobile bio/chem labs buried near a arms depot was a "real find". http://www.nypost.com/news/worldnews/73505.htm
Wow...I follow the news pretty closely and I must have missed reading about that find. I wonder why more attention wasn't drawn to it?
There are forces who don't want this kind of information spread around, lest the masses become too educated! I think that the entire argument about this Iraqi War has been purposely framed incorrectly by the UN, certain European countries, and Bush bashers. This group each has its own agenda, but they all gain power if Bush and his team fail at the attempt to execute this war and bring democracy to Iraq. President Bush and his team allowed their biased critics, which includes the majority of the American press, to control this public debate because our President did not clearly and forcibly make his case in the world court of public opinion. Before this conflict began, Western Intelligence agencies had detailed reports that proved Iraq and Al Queda had some kind of working arrangement. Two meetings between high level government officials and Al Queda terrorists took place, including a meeting between Mohammed Atta and an Iraqi Ambassador. There were published accounts of terrorists training camps that simulated Boeing highjackings using knives and boxcutters. There was even a first hand account of a Bin Ladin sighting in Baghdad. Why didn't Bush or Powell use this information to convince the world of this real threat to the United States? Bush allowed the left to improperly influence world opinion when the Left erroneously stated that Iraq was no immediate threat to the United States, when all evidence proved otherwise. Even more important was the fact that the burden of proof was on Iraq to either turn over their WMD that we knew they possessed in 1998, or show us proof that the WMD had been destroyed. The UN Inspections team was sent to Iraq to verify the Iraqi claims- not to search for WMD. The Iraqis failed to comply with the UN mandate and deserved the "dire consequences" that the United Nation authorized in resolution 1441. Once again, the Bush team failed to articulate to the world that our attack conformed to International Law enforced by the United Nations. It was France, Germany, and Russia who turned their backs on the UN, not the United States. Fortunately for Bush, his increased credibility world wide, once the full truth about Iraq surfaces, will help cover up his poor communication skills. A recent poll of French showed a 50% approval of the war, a dramatic increase from a population who now understands the facts of this debate. Everybody has strengths and weaknesses, and I would rather have a leader like Bush, who possesses a strong moral compass and traditional core convictions, than a President who is an amoral master communcator.
Also, to counter the inevitable claim that Atta did not meet with Iraqi Intelligence two months before the 9-11 attacks (led by Atta), here are the facts surrounding the meeting. http://edwardjayepstein.com/2002question/prague.htm
If they find chemical weapons then I'll be happy. Although I do believe that chemical weapons are ridiculously easy to manufacture and I do think we should concentrate on the biological/nuclear aspect of WMD. For the johnheath comment that some people want to keep the masses ingnorant, I'll just remind him that virtually all major media in the U.S. is owned by a total of about 4 corporations, which in turn aren't exactly owned by the most liberal men in the world. So if you're claiming that the media is guilty of obfuscation, chances are it's obfuscation that benefits people like yourself. Also, it's primarily your party that likes to cut education funding every chance they get, which in turn helps keep the masses ignorant.
Heretic, do you know the significance of the following smilie? It is generally used to show your readers that the comment preceding the is made in jest. Carry on.
I joke around on the more foolish threads, but for the credibility of the United States I truly hope we find something substanial soon. We need a major WMD discovery to validate this war- period.
I agree we need better find something fast and im not talking about something like bs mustard gas. We need to find something that was an actual threat and i want to see actual pics not as apposed to speculative reports.
Wow, here we are digging through rubble for documents and western intelligence had "detailed reports" that proved a connection the whole time. That is incredible! So that means either johnheath is completely exaggerrating (again) or this administration is completely incompetent. I could go either way on that one. So funny...
