ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Blazers 12/12/2013

Yeah, Lilliard had a wonderful game tonight. Lin is coming back from an injury, he gets a pass. How did he play before he got injured? He's not a backup. You have an organization being stubborn and not putting in your real point guard in a system where you use his talent. Therefore, you're forcing him to play not to his strength. You saw that drive where he handed it off to Howard. Do you know how many times he did that to Chandler or Stodemire in NY? How many times he could do that if they would just incorporate him into the offense and like Portland or SA play a ball-movement offense? Please, let the guy play. I hope he had 14 minutes tonight because he's coming back from injury otherwise Sampson not playing him is unacceptable.

 

Most logical post all night.....should have seen more of this lineup (Howard/Parsons/Harden/Lin/Bev)...this would have given Rockets multiple threats from all angle with Bev containing Moe.

 

Not sure what Sampson was thinking with that unit that started the 4th.

Where was the offense supposed to come from?

 

Because going to our best guy tonight is a bad tactic?

thank goodness these guys are so worried about the Race they can care less about the game.

 

Pick and pop. I can't believe how obvious it was. The blazers were running pick and popp but we kept making no adjustments. Sampson is lucky he didn't get a HC gigg to be exposed.

 

Yep the zebras seemed to really stick it to us this game. Little ticky tack touch fouls called on us, and then we got clobbered on the other end and got no calls.

We'll get them in Houston. Let's go Rockets!

Harden needs the ball in his hands less.

 

Quick question, is sail still "hurt"? We could have really used him this game on LMA, and Howard on Lopez.

Sampson has done a horrible job in this game. Why go back to Jones on Aldridge? It is just a brain dead decision.

The rest of this month is tough and the coaching staff need to back-up all that talk about how deep we are meant to be. There is no excuse with Asik out that they can't find 5 minutes each for Brewer and Dmo (stronger perimeter defense, to counter the weaker interior defense).

The team offense went to shambles, it really is brutal to watch.

The only thing the Inside the NBA crew said right at the half was that you will die by the jumpshot. If the three ball is not dropping consistently the offense is amateurish.

With so many weapons we only need to run basic sets to be more effective. Pick n roll, pick n pop, dribble penetration, iso plays (post and perimeter...more than just Harden guilty) and maybe a dribble hand off play.

I am fine with Harden running an iso, but after some movement. Same with Howard in the block. Something simple like Jones setting a pick for Howard at the elbow, cut down into the block with a dribble hand off at the top.

How about HORNS once in a while? Double ball screen with the 4 popping and Howard rolling, nothing there run a pnp with the 4, nothing there post up Howard. (I keep bringing up HORNS because by bringing the 4 and 5 up it opens up the paint underneath the basket, if our goal is to get buckets at the basket, it makes no sense not to run stuff out of this).

Maybe the players just can't grasp running an offense. How many times out of a time out the run a loop for Harden but his man denies the ball...instead of reversing and doing something else they just got to Harden anyway.

16 assists off of 40 made shots...

 

Relax. Lin is just back from injury.

What concerns me is Jones....he look completely lost on both ends.

 

Coach Sampson just made Coach McHale look like Pops. Awful stuff from him.

Another incredible game by Howard wasted

Jeremy looked a bit tentative on his return but was good overall.

lol someone has amnesia. Bev and Jones were the biggest culprits of that run. Bev fouling LMA on the and. He and Jones both missed open shots, etc.

How could the bench lose the game with this was a 97-95 game with 4+ minutes to play? They just didnt execute or get stops down the stretch.

 

you sound like a dumbass. Lma is a top 3 MVP candidate so far this season. Geez do you even pay attention to the NBA besides the rockets?

 

McHale would have done that, just saying.
