Yeah they had a software update, when they update the software it turns off the standby mode and you have to manually turn it on
I had to unplug to hard reboot when I turned it on today because the TV app was throwing some error about the TV and not being able to detect the signal. That has happened before. Hard reboot to fix as standby mode and back on...problem will persist.
I just have to say that watching an NFL game or the Red Zone channel with the NFL app and my fantasy roster "snapped" has to be the coolest freaking feeling.
So I have both system, gotta say my favorite now i the Xbox1. Better voice command/apps/interface/can set this to my SmartDPS service, the packaging is better not that it means anything. The Kinect>PS4 camera. But what the PS4 lack they make it up with the controller. PS4 controller is just about the damn coolest controller made for game consoling. It's amazing, I'm buying 3 of them!!
Just got my Xbox One in (haven't opened it up yet) but generally I've always been a fan of the Xbox Controller because of how it fits into my hands for gameplay and the improvements for this controller look pretty nice. What is it about the PS4 controller you like so much?
I have never liked the shape of the dual shock controllers. I agree the touchpad is kinda cool with the PS4 but I still prefer the shape of the Xbox controllers. The joysticks on the Xbox One controllers are amazing. They added the little ridges around the edges of the joysticks that adds a real quality feel and helps with long-term comfort and grip. I also like the 4 points of vibration, which helps add to immersion.
Those blue/red LED lights on the bottom and sound coming from the top, it's durable and I don't know it just looks so futuristic. I like the xbox one controllers too, a little too big than the previous ones but still cool. SmartDPS, dumdum??? I meant SmartDNS
The Xbox One controllers are actually the same size as the Xbox 360 controllers. They just look bigger because of the black plastic at the top which houses the IR receivers that Kinect uses and the more angular edges.
I can't believe how much money they spent re-designing the new controller and the differences are negligible at best. It feels a little smaller in the hand and maybe the D pad works a little better. Boy, that was an expensive correction.
The R&D costs included the IR blasters for the Kinect usage (it knows when you pass the controller), the improve joysticks, removing the battery bulge, adding feedback in the triggers, adding standard USB support, etc... they did a ton of stuff. This video explains a lot of it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/m4SYaTLCWL0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Also, remember that the R&D for the new controller also included the software framework and integration for the new elements. I'm betting Sony probably spent even more on their controllers.
Got the XBox 1 for my son for his birthday/Christmas.. we have UVerse.. any tips on integrating it with Uverse? Also, I picked up Dead Rising 3, Ryse, and an extra controller.. anything vital missing there?
The integration is easy, I have UVerse too...it'll walk you through the steps. If he likes cars...Forza 5.
Just got a Sony 4K. Girlfriend doesn't want to lose her gamer score so she wants XBone. What's the news on 4K for XBone?
I have U-verse as well, and the setup took about 60 seconds. I even use the wireless HD receiver and it works flawlessly. HDMI output of the U-verse box into the HDMI input on the Xbox One. Open the TV App (say, "Xbox, go to TV") and the process is 2-3 screens.
Some Forza discussion...there was lots of drama over Turn 10 turning into money hungry whores. From the start, they mentioned they would keep track of the in-game economy and balance things, if needed. They have done just that. Some major changes coming up in the update: The credits earned per game has dramatically increased, about 60% per hour. The cost of cars, on average, will be cut in half. Increased rewards program...the more you play, the more bonuses you get. For instance, I was given 3 million already...and within a few days, I will be gifted another 1 million. 2 game modes added: Drag Racing and Tag (3 different variations) How you like that, RC?
It's good. I'm glad there was outrage over it, or else Turn10 would have had no reason to change it. I might prefer a few more small tweaks, but the "grind" part of the game seems much more reasonable now. It is still one of many issues though, and reading the PR from this, it still seems like they really don't "get it" IMO. Might have been better to just not do the PR to be honest.
I think you could easily buy most of the cars you want by simply achieving gold in every race. I've only made my way through every race in 5 classes (I think there are about 30)? and I have 20+ cars. Each class has 15 races, so the credits for every class on every track adds up. I just think we have a "gimmie it now" gaming culture. I'm happy for the extra credits and reduced prices but it just means I'll be "through" with the game earlier because I'll have nothing else to play for when I have every car and every race is gold. With that said, their car packs suck. I bought the Ferrari pack thinking I'd get all of the cars... nope, just gives you the ability to unlock those cars and buy them with in-game currency.
Someone threw out the idea of difficulty modes (higher difficulty = less rewards), or something along those lines. That's how you could have resolved some of this in earlier generations. Of course, there's no money in that.
