Kevin McHale out for Mother's death

I doubt someone in his family is sick, although you never know.

I do believe and fear that the anniversary of Sasha's passing might have been more than someone in their family can bear.

Which is understandable. I don't have kids (I'm just the "favorite uncle") but if I did and lost one it would just kill me. Can't imagine what it would do to my wife.

Sounds serious and Kevin McHale should step away from the game as long as he needs. As much as I love it, basketball ain't ****. This is real life.

 

But these things can hit, and they can fester:

"No, I'm okay, I'm fine....I'm dealing with it...."

But maybe that someone isn't okay, maybe they're not dealing with it very well.

Anyway, it's all speculation.

 

Looks like he's on the flight to Portland with the team. Dwight posted a picture of him, Morey, Bill Worrel and other players sleeping

Obviously super rough. Those poor guys. Just look at them.

Condolences to the family. Must be tough facing a death after 1year. Hopefully he's doing better.

 

Condolences to McHale and his family. That is so rough losing two immediate family members in one year. I can't even imagine...

 

That's terrible news. Thoughts and prayers go out to coach and his family. Can't believe two years in a row he has to go through this.

Rockets head coach Kevin McHale’s mother passed away on Tuesday night. The funeral will be on Friday and there is no word when he will return to the Rockets.

McHale missed a second straight day of practice on Wednesday.

There is no word on when McHale will return or if he will travel with the Rockets on their upcoming West Coast road trip to Portland Thursday, Golden State Friday and Sacramento on Sunday.

Assistant coach Kelvin Sampson has taken over coaching duties in McHale’s absence.​

Damn you have to feel for this guy. All in a year.

Prayers for him and his family. They are going to be one more person short this year for the holidays.

 

I have nothing but respect for McHale.

When I was a senior in high school, I woke up for basketball practice in the morning and my Mom came in and told me my grandfather had passed away. Even though we weren't really close or anything, it still hit me hard. It was very difficult to focus on anything for the next few days.

I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is for McHale.

 

Condolences to the McHale family with this loss off his Mom
