Here's a wacky idea... how about Tyson Chandler and Iman Shumpert for Asik, DMo, and Cisco?

Obviously this would only work out if Chandler was willing to play second fiddle for ~20mpg, but maybe he would do it in service of winning another ring. Find out first before you trade for him obviously so you don't wind up back at square one.

I've come on board the Evan Turner + Spencer Hawes bandwagon. Both would be perfect fits with this team, IMO.

In the end, if Daryl can't get the lottery pick he wants for Asik, I think a deal goes down with Hinkie in Philly. An outside shot with ATL, who really likes Asik.

Then Daryl will just wait it out. I do like Turner+ Hawes but if think Philly will want our pick and I think that's a deal breaker. He's never been the type to unload assets just because. Robinson was an exception because of Dwight's max offer but that was it.

    Hope Omer is prepared.

I think Morey would trade our pick in exchange for Turner + Hawes. That pick is probably in the 25-30 range anyway. Think about what a monster this team would be in the regular season the rest of the year:

    Bev/Lin
    Harden/Turner
    Parsons/Turner
    Jones/Hawes
    Dwight/Hawes

We'd also have the best 3rd string in the league with Brooks, Cisco, Casspi, and DMO

Morey won't trade this draft's pick for two rentals. Maybe those second rounders from Portland but not our first. Turn has an $8 million qualifying option next season. YUCK!

Remember it's not just a rental because we are getting their bird rights and in Turner's case he is an RFA.

I think we would re-sign Turner (maybe he accepts the qualifying option though which is fine because it preserves cap space for Love/LMA etc) and would let Hawes walk & pick up a backup center with the MLE. Unless Morey is 100% sold on Hawes in which case maybe we bring both guys back.

Evan Turner wouldn't fit on this team.

Takes the ball out of a Harden's hands and can't shoot. Sure, he's a terrific scorer and overall talent. He's a Kevin Martin. It's just not what we need, though.

I think it's safe to say at this point: if you're a perimeter player and you can't shoot, we don't have much of a use for you (i.e. Ronnie Brewer).

New York wants Jeremy Lin back. They can't get over the feel good days of being the warm sunlight for a couple of weeks before coming back to their Dolan hell. They don't have any playmakers. Having Parsons and Asik too would be a steal for them. Why NOT?!

Yes, the QO is a sticking point and not very Morey-like.

They signed Greg Oden for the sole purpose of defending Hibbert in a couple games in the play offs. They're not going to put Oden in the regular season to aggravate his knees. There's still hope for Miami to get through the ECF. If they trade Bosh, there's no hope, might as well ask for Lebron for Asik/Lin at that point.

I agree. Lin, Parsons and Asik would be a decent core for New York to rebuild on. However, not sure if Melo makes sense for Houston though. It will be a huge risk on giving up good role players for a star and hoping he will make up for the loss. Not only is there a question of meshing his playing style, but Melo will want a max contract. We will have $55-$60 million tied up in 3 players.

    Just trying something:

What is the likelihood of Oklahoma City and the Rox doing this deal:

Omer and Dmo and 2014 1st rounder for:

    Perry Jones
    Steven Adams
    Nick Collison
    Jeremy Lamb

Back up center is covered as well as young backups for Harden and Chandler. Collison is the wirey Vet.

I would say the likelihood is low. OKC probably doesn't want to give up Adams and I don't think Morey wants to trade with OKC and help make them better. Also, OKC is looking for a veteran wing scorer for Lamb.

Which is true. And yet we should have a use for such a player. Brewer would at least provide some defense during those frequent azz-poundings we take from even the most obscure shooting guards (see also: Anderson, James; uuuuh, That One Guy on Phoenix, Whosis).

ok, so who in the east do you see bothering them other than the pacers. Taking bosh off the team alone is still enough to beat every team besides indiana, let alone adding asik and lin to that team. Bosh is a non factor against teams like the spurs and pacers. Plus oden is no guarantee, i doubt he plays more than 15 minutes a game in the playoffs

He's nothing like Kevin Martin. He's more of an Andre Iguodala. He's an above average defender who can drive to the basket, distribute the ball, and can kinda-sorta shoot (but not all that well).

I think Turner's shooting % would improve a lot with all the open looks he'd get on our team. Just like Iggy's did going to GSW.

He's like Kevin Martin in the sense that's an outstanding scorer that draws fouls and puts points on the board yet has at least one MAJOR issue that limits the outlook for his future.

In Martin's case it's always been the defense and durability issues.

In Turner's case it's his inability to shoot or play off of the ball.

Turner has improved his shot since he came into the league and he can continue to do so as a player's shot is one thing that can actually improve as time goes on. He's been playing off the ball well this year, working with MCW on the perimeter and off of Spencer Hawes in the post.

Even 15-20 minutes of defense on Hibert in the finals can be enough to get Miami past the ECF.

Miamis need for a big man is blown out of proportions. They don't need a big man to beat the Pacers. The Lebron, Wade, Bosh small ball approach has gotten them 2 rings and 3 finals appearances. The only time Miami needs a big man is when Bosh isn't shooting well and can't draw the center out of the paint, the 3 ball isn't falling and the opposing team is grabbing all the rebounds.

Would anyone do a Asik+Terrence for Horford? Does it sound like enough?

    Bev
    Harden
    Parsons
    Horford
    Howard
